Vaccination Clinic for Ages 5-11
The Marblehead Health Department and the Swampscott Health Department will be holding a joint 1st dose COVID vaccination clinic for Swampscott and Marblehead residents ages 5-11 on Tuesday, November 16th from 3-7pm at the Lucretia and Joseph Brown Elementary School at 40 Baldwin Rd. in Marblehead.

Pre-registration is required by using the button below. View a fact sheet on the vaccine here and the full event flyer here.
  • GET VACCINATED to protect those around you who remain vulnerable to COVID-19 including young children who may not yet be fully vaccinated

  • If you are not fully vaccinated, wear a mask indoors

  • Do not attend a Thanksgiving gathering if you or anyone in your household has symptoms of COVID-19, or is awaiting test results

  • Consider getting tested before visiting others for Thanksgiving, and testing after the gathering. Find a COVID testing site near you.
BEWARE OF FINANCIAL SCAMS
Swampscott Seniors are often targeted by financial scams. The Swampscott Police want to remind everyone of what to look out for:

IRS, Social Security, Medicare: These entities will never call you unsolicited. If you receive any call from a person posing as someone representing the IRS, Social Security, or Medicare, hang up immediately. Individuals on this call will often threaten you with fines, refuse to make future payments, or even jail.

Grandparent Scam: This is a scam in which someone calls to pose as a fake grandchild asking for money to solve some sort of unexpected financial problem (overdue rent, car repairs, jail bond, etc.). If they ask you to pay them in gift cards or money transfers, this is a warning sign that it's not legitimate.

And remember, if you receive a call asking for money and it doesn't seem quite right, check with the Police Department by calling 781-595-1111
Thank you to the Swampscott DPW crew for heading out into the storm last week to clean up the dozens of downed trees that blocked roads and hit homes. Over the course of last week they removed 19 trees blocking roadways, 16 trees on homes and private property, 2 trees on vehicles, and cleared out 60 limbs - sometimes working all night long.

We appreciate all you do to keep us safe and keep our Town moving!
GREAT CHANGES COMING TO
SWAMPSCOTT COMMUNITY POWER

From program launch in 2016 through the end of October 2021, participants in Swampscott Community Power, Swampscott's town electricity program, will have together purchased more than 210,000 MWh of electricity from renewable sources instead of fossil fuels. This community-wide effort has resulted in more than 130 million pounds of CO2 emissions avoided, which is equal to avoiding the greenhouse gas emissions of passenger cars driving more than 148 million miles.

Now, Swampscott Community Power is increasing its commitment to buy renewable electricity from the New England region starting in November. At the same time, the program will offer new prices that will be lower than National Grid’s proposed winter residential Basic Service price and also lower for most program participants. Learn more about the program and these changes.
