Napkin Decoupage Tote Bag

Workshop

Sponsored by ASI

Friday, April 11th at 12:30 pm

$5 per person

plain tote bag with materials to decorate it

horses painted on a tote bag

Come and learn how to decoupage a canvas tote bag with printed paper napkins! What is decoupage, you say? This unique technique involves adhering paper or fabric cutouts onto a surface to create a decorative design. When using a napkin, parchment paper, and decoupage on fabric, the parchment paper acts as a protective layer between the iron and the fabric when you are essentially "ironing" the napkin onto the fabric using decoupage glue (like Mod Podge), allowing the design from the napkin to adhere to the fabric without wrinkling or damaging the delicate napkin itself; essentially, you apply the decoupage glue to the fabric, place the napkin on top, cover with parchment paper, and iron to set the design in place. In the process, you can create an easy DIY bag upgrade. The best part is that you can literally pick from any napkin that you can find and tailor it to fit your needs, ex: Mother's Day, Christmas, or any themed gift.

All supplies will be provided. Limited to the first 10 people.

Please sign up at the front desk

The Honor Flight Network is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which works as an umbrella organization with local chapters and various subgroups.

This areas' chapter, the Capital Region Honor Flight recognizes the bravery, determination and patriotism of senior Veterans in the DC, MD and DE area and is dedicated to transporting as many United States military veterans as possible to see the memorials of the respective war they fought in Washington, DC, at no cost to the veterans.

The veterans are generally escorted by volunteer guardians, who help them on the flight and around DC. After landing, the taxiing airplane may be saluted by fire trucks, and passengers are often met by cheering crowds in DC or upon their return flight home. The trip is only one day, but the experience is life-changing.

Capital Region covers a vast geographical area; and they will originate bus trips at different locations to make it convenient for Veterans across their service area.

Being a greeter or volunteer is fun, educational but most importantly – fulfilling – as you are helping to give these heroes the welcome many of them never got when they came home from their service time.
