Month of Discovery is a time to engage with events designed to help you explore UConn's rich culture of research, creativity, and innovation. This month includes signature events as well as a dozen partner events where you can learn how to enhance your college journey.



Join us to #DiscoverUConn and learn about all the engagement opportunities available to you!


The first 100 in-person attendees at each signature event will receive a Month of Discovery t-shirt! 

Signature Events

Makerspace Bounce

Bounce between UConn's four makerspaces - OPIM Innovate, Innovate Wellness, the UConn Library Maker Studio, and the Innovation Zone - through a scavenger hunt like no other. Jumpstart your creativity, bounce some ideas around, and get making!

Undergraduate students from across the university will share their research and creative projects at Fall Frontiers, so it’s a not-to-be missed opportunity to talk with your peers about the amazing projects they’ve pursued and spark your imagination about what you might want to explore and create.

At the Experience Innovation Expo, you can explore the wide range of programs and resources available to support your interests in entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity, as well as engage in some hands-on projects led by the Innovation Zone and OPIM Innovate makerspaces.

Research Connections is intended to expose Hartford students to UConn's research within the Hartford and Storrs campuses. This event allows students to interact with faculty, staff, graduate students, and peers about research opportunities on and off campus.

Enrichment Connections

Looking for ways to make the most of your college experience and gain valuable skills? Want to enrich your learning and elevate your studies? Join us for Enrichment Connections at UConn Stamford!


We’ll have students, faculty, and staff involved in UConn Enrichment Programs (Honors Program, Individualized and Interdisciplinary Studies Program, Office of National Scholarships & Fellowships, Office of Undergraduate Research, Pre-Professional Advising (including Pre-Health and Pre-Law), and the University Scholar Program) available to answer questions at tables in the Rich Concourse from 10am-12pm and additional sessions later in the day to learn more.


Free food and prizes (and chance to win even bigger prizes) for all who engage at the event! Honors students who engage by talking with at least two tables can count this as an Honors Event. This event is part of the Month of Discovery celebration.

Getting Started in Undergraduate Research

Are you interested in research but not sure how to get started? Join us to identify your goals for your participation in research and to develop a strategy for pursuing research opportunities at UConn and beyond.


This workshop is a partner event in the Month of Discovery, a series of events designed to help students explore UConn’s rich culture of research, creativity, and innovation. By attending, students can earn points and prizes as part of the Discovery Quest challenge.

Empowered Women Empower Women- The Positive Influence of Mentors on Women Leaders

Our annual tradition of celebrating Women In Entrepreneurship week is back! Hear from four members of our community on challenges they face, overcoming obstacles, insights, plus much more!


Jennifer Mathieu is the Executive Director of CCEI and supports economic development by fostering initiatives for startups and small businesses at UConn, across Connecticut and to alumni worldwide. In this role, she has helped to launch and grow hundreds of startups and several new programs and initiatives to support entrepreneurs. She is a mentor within community organizations, serves on several advisory boards for startups, and works one-on-one with entrepreneurs through her consulting business. 


Hayley Segar is the founder of onewith, inventor of patent-pending swimsuits that fit like underwear™, and a proud UConn graduate and CCEI alum. She lives on the Connecticut shoreline with her two rescue cats. 


Grace Napolitano has had a 20+ year career in media sales, leading teams to sell multi-million dollars in ad revenue. She loves sales and wants all women business owners to fall in love with sales to reach their businesses' full potential! 


Milena (Stankova) Erwin is an educator, non-profit leader and growth consultant. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the CT Technology Council. Having run a successful women's business center, and now leading the CTC's Women of Innovation awards, Milena is passionate about supporting women as their craft their own unique paths to success. Milena teaches at the UConn School of Business, is a native of Bulgaria, has two sons, and lives in South Windsor.

Discovery Quest

This challenge aims to motivate students to discover all UConn has to offer in the fields of research, innovation, and creativity.


After you register as a participant, earn Discovery Points by:

  • Checking in at one of our Signature or Partner Events
  • Submit a picture of yourself at a Month of Discovery Event
  • Providing event feedback



Registration runs through the end of Month of Discovery, October 31st. All UConn undergraduate students are welcome to participate!
