October 3, 2023

Dear friends,

This week, we are filled to the brim with gratitude for the beauty and wisdom shared at Convocation 2023 — two days of deep sharing, learning, and laughter with a truly special group of friends old and new. Together we took deep insights from keynote speakers Victoria Loorz and John Bear Mitchell, immersed ourselves in contemplative practices with a host of wise leaders, and shared movement and music with Rev. Liz Fulmer, all in the beautiful environs of Maple Hill Inn in Hallowell, ME. We are thrilled with the space we all co-created, both in person and online. Thank you to those of you who joined us from near and far!

We had nearly a hundred participants for our in-person program, as well as over eighty for our Online Companions Track. Each of you brought such unique, wonderful energy and perspective to our conversations large and small, and those conversations will continue to inspire our work going forward.

As we celebrate Convocation, we are also looking ahead to a bounty of offerings in October and November. We'll be hosting a very special evening with Margaret Wheatley on Tuesday, October 24 centered on Complicated Hope. We hope you'll join us for an evening of conversation, music, and connection.

We'll also co-host a workshop entitled Climate Change and the Chaplain's Presence with the Chaplaincy Innovation Lab in October, as well as leading a Wonder and Wonder at Tir na nOg Farm in Pownal, Maine. And for those of you seeking more space for ecological grief, Lament with Earth, created in collaboration with The Many, will return in November for another series.

Last week, we released the first episode of our second season of Climate Changed — The BTS Center's podcast. This season features a roster of profound and insightful guests joining our hosts, Nicole Diroff and Ben Yosua-Davis, exploring collective honesty and complicated hope. Please take a listen to the first episode, and look out for a new episode on the last Tuesday of each month!

We look forward to seeing you at one or more of these offerings in the coming months!

With best wishes,

The BTS Center Team
