It's Theater Season in Chicago!
League of Chicago Theatres in partnership with Choose Chicago and DCASE have put together a new marketing campaign that launches TODAY declaring this fall "Theater Season" for Chicago and we need your help to spread the word.
To learn all about this campaign, view the Presentation Deck and Zoom Recording of last Friday's presentation from ad agency, Havas Chicago. Slide 22 of the presentation includes the Theatre Toolkit, which is also linked here. Today, Thursday October 5, we encourage you to participate in a social media blackout using the marketing toolkit to promote your shows using the images from the campaign. We also hope that you will get involved with the Theatrical out of home activations by placing a prop or object relating to your show around your venue or neighborhood with a provided QR code sticker.
The "Theater Season" campaign will also feature a landing page listing all current and upcoming fall shows. We have pulled show information directly from ChicagoPlays.com to create your listing. If you need more information or your show is not currently listed on ChicagoPlays, please reach out to Hayley at hayley@chicagoplays.com.

The mission of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) is to enrich Chicago’s artistic vitality and cultural vibrancy. The Creative Worker Resource is a listing of resources available locally and nationally to support creatives, from job boards to professional advancement programs to emergency funding. If you have any questions about the resources listed, or if you have additional resources you want to share, contact CulturalResources@cityofchicago.org. You can view the list of resources here.
In addition, DCASE has released the SMU DATArts Report, key findings in the report reinforce what we have seen in Chicago and nationally—the nonprofit theater sector has been the slowest to recover in terms of tickets, ticket revenue, and number of donations. On Thursday, October 12, at 3PM a webinar will be held featuring DCASE Commissioner Erin Harkey and Deputy Commissioner Jamey Lundblad joining SMU DataArts' Zannie Voss, Ph.D. for an overview of the study as well as an illuminating conversation about the current challenges faced by the sector and how the community will begin to leverage findings from this report to advance through recovery. You may register here for the webinar.
