Two OBAT Schools Host Annual Sports Day

OBAT's schools lay a lot of emphasis on the multifaceted development of its students and regard sports and cultural activities as an essential part of a student's life. Keeping this in mind, schools organize annual sports days. Two schools in Chittagong, Halishahar and Ferozeshah, held their annual sports days in February. Various competitions such as skipping, running and musical chairs, were a part of the event.

The highlight of the day was the Dress Up competition where students adorned colorful and vibrant outfits. They had fun dressing up as freedom fighters, farmers, and even a prime minister!

Ramadan is in the Air!

Ramadan means Iftars- Beautiful, spiritual gatherings which bring together community members under one roof to share a meal.

We are excited to resume our annual iftars at ISNA, post Covid. Save the date for April 1st and join us at ISNA for an iftar and fundraiser!

OBAT Students Offer Prayers for Turkey and Syria

The government of Bangladesh declared a one day state mourning for the victims of the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

The national flag was hoisted at half-mast atop office buildings. Students in OBAT schools across the country joined the nation in offering prayers for the lives lost.

Dynamic Additions to OBAT's Team!

OBAT was fortunate to acquire wonderful talent for its team during February. Dina Dahabi was onboarded as our new Finance Manager. Sk. Tanvir who is located in Bangladesh, will be working for OBAT as Director, Strategy and Implementation. Dr. Shariq Siddiqui will be advising OBAT in strategy and development. Tahmina Afroz's responsibilities will now have a greater focus on grant writing. We are excited to have seasoned professionals contribute to OBAT's growth and development!

Amid these great additions, we also had to bid farewell to Masum Mahub who started his jouney with OBAT as a board member and transitioned to staff in 2019. Masum's contributions to OBAT as Director of Policy and Partner Engagement are numerous and had a far reaching impact on OBAT's growth. He made several trips to Bangladesh during his time with OBAT to foster partnerships, develop local staff and monitor the projects. We will certainly miss him and wish him the very best in the next step in his career.
