Greetings,

I hope that everyone is having a busy and fabulous summer. It’s a great time to be doing business in the county!

I find myself somewhat saddened by the last few days of lacrosse season. It’s one of the many things that I’m not sure I realized how much I missed until it was back.

If you are a golfer make sure to get registered for the annual DBOT golf tournament on August 25th at Shelburne Golf Course. You’ll find more about it further along these pages but the committee is working hard to plan a fantastic event. It will also be one of the first tournaments in the area to see the return of a shotgun start. Ticket sales have been going well so far so make sure to register through the website if you’d like to attend. We do have a hard cap of 108 golfers.

The folks in the office have been working really hard lately on your behalf. You’ll read more further along about an exciting tourism project that they are about to undertake. Jordan has been busy making some great videos for our members that they can use for their own promotions. If you haven’t taken advantage of that yet make sure to sign up soon before he’s gone!

Please remember that your board and staff are here to work on your behalf. If you have any industry specific issues we can help with please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and I hope to see you on the links on August 25th!

Doug Harkness,
Chair - Dufferin Board of Trade

Hands-on demos. Local skilled tradespeople. Dynamic keynote speaker Jamie McMillan of KickAss Careers. And much more!

Show local students and their parents, second-career seekers, and commuters some of the exciting, in-demand, well-paying career options available in skilled trades in the Dufferin area.

Inspire the future of skilled trades!

Paul Janssen, from JDC Custom Homes says, "As you all know, we need more young people to be interested in a career working in skilled trades. The obstacle, I think, we’re facing, has many different tiers but if we keep it simple, I feel it comes down to education & exposure to available options. We ( I mean people already in the trades. You and me. ) will have to do our part to make an impact on today’s young people to influence their future choices regarding their careers....How can we get more of these young people interested in our trades or how can we show their parents that careers in skilled trades can be very honorable and/or rewarding? How can you make a difference? I’m glad you asked!"

Get involved in Dream Dufferin - Set up an indoor or outdoor booth and let's show them what sort of opportunities are available locally and how rewarding a career in skilled trades can be!

Booth space is limited – please register at www.dufferinbot.ca/dreamdufferin.
Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Your future workforce will be at Dream Dufferin on September 14th. Don't miss them.
