This whole up and down with the weather is really messing with us in the garden. It's just downright mean to be honest! Enough already!
When I have been at the Garden Center, I have been talking to all the new seasonal staff and learning their names; it takes me a hot minute to keep all their names straight but I'm really trying my best. Can I say they are ALL amazing?!! I ask them if they are having fun and they each say emphatically, "YES!"
I have been trying to get my steps in at work and that has involved walking back and forth between the offices (in the two-story house) and the Garden Center. It's 900 feet and roughly 430 steps. I decided if I walk this several times a day, I won't have to walk hours when I get home to get over 8,000 steps.
When I leave the offices, I always tell AmberLeigh (pictured with me) where I am going so when someone asks, "Where's Marsha?" she can tell them. I do have a white board that actually says Where's Marsha? for me to write on - which theoretically will show where I'm going when I head out the door, but ask me how many times I remember to use that? (Insert eye roll here.)
So in the middle of not remembering to write my visit to the Garden Center last week, I also skipped getting my steps and jumped on a golf cart to ride up front. I walked around with a customer for a bit and then remembered I had not eaten lunch. I. was. hungry. So I walked back to the office, accumulating more steps.
I ate my lunch. Then I remembered what I had forgotten. I actually forgot I had driven the golf cart to the Garden Center. As I was whining about it, AmberLeigh looked at me with a sad expression of it looks really hard to be old and asked, "Would you like me to drive you up there on a golf cart to get the golf cart?" Whining some more, I nodded.
This is AmberLeigh kindly giving me a ride back to the Garden Center. "Helper" is her superpower. She is our Client Care Lead and it's hard to put into words how good she is at her job. She handles lawn maintenance clients, as well as landscape clients, and is just so great. Her professional demeanor, sunny disposition, and her gift of empathy can calm every situation thrown her way. Even when a client calls irate and yelling, she takes it in stride. Yes, people actually call yelling. (Side note: please don't call yelling at my tribe. We are doing the best we can every day and we should always keep everything in perspective. Sometimes I think to myself, "Is that client actually yelling and is that really going to help?" Shaking my head for real.) AmberLeigh IS THE BEST!
We have many helpers at FGS and the Garden Center is stocked full of them. Let us help you #bringgreenhome and brighten your day with all things blooming!
