Leadership and Community Highlights
Leadership Spotlight: Honoring Trustee Ana Maria Pulido
After 12 years as a member of the district’s Board of Trustees, Ana Maria Pulido is serving her final term and will attend her last meeting on December 8th. Among her many contributions to our community, Trustee Pulido:

  • Led efforts to advance the priorities to improve student outcomes, engage family and community and to make the District fiscally solvent for subsequent years to come
  • Led bond and parcel tax measures and maximized our underutilized facilities to generate much-needed dollars to recruit and retain talent and to upgrade and modernize every classroom
  • Led the District through the Ravenswood Self Improvement Plan (RSIP)
  • Expanded course offerings so every child in every grade received art and music
  • Launched the first Makerspace in the region and the expansion of a Makerspace at every school
  • Launched our comprehensive middle school to better prepare students for high school transition.

We will honor Trustee Pulido during our regular board meeting on November 17th. If you would like to honor Trustee Pulido, please feel free to send a video or email to Maria Pineda (mpineda@ravenswoodschools.org), and/or come to the November 17th meeting to share how she has positively impacted our schools and community.
Community Spotlight: Future pilots and astronauts visited Hiller Aviation Museum
In October, 130 fourth and fifth grade students participated in an Aero Design Challenge, learned about the Engineering Design Process, flew in a flight simulator and enjoyed the history and exhibits on display at the Hiller Aviation Museum. The Museum was kind enough to waive their fees and pay for our transportation. Maybe we inspired a future pilot or astronaut, or at least stimulated a further interest in STEM education!
Monthly Board Meetings:

Please join us in person for this month’s Ravenswood board meeting on Thursday, November 17th at 7:15pm. The full agenda will be posted in advance on our board meetings webpage. Learning and Development
Update on the Educational Health of our Students
The California Department of Education has released student CAASPP test scores from last spring. Across the state, scores dropped in both ELA and math, largely in response to learning disruptions during the pandemic.

Ravenswood is closely monitoring the educational health of our students, and we look at state test scores as well as other important data. In September, our Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning shared an update with our Board of Trustees. Please read our presentation to understand how Ravenswood students are doing, and how we are responding.
Family Math Night at Belle Haven Elementary
Ms. Richards and Ms. Souza held a family math night at Belle Haven last week, exploring how to create a soccer field. What fun we had learning from our students!
The Halloween spirit was strong at our schools this year
After three years of pandemic, our students were so excited to celebrate Halloween with their school friends last week. Check out some of the creative student (and staff!) costumes at the Costaño costume parade and at CCRMS!

Parent advocacy is leading to safer streets in our community
Check out our powerful parents! Ravenswood families and district staff have worked with our partners in the City of EPA to address traffic concerns on Pulgas Ave. Thanks to their work, two new traffic circles have gone up on Pulgas at busy intersections. We're proud of what our families and staff have accomplished together to make sure our students and community are safe!
