Finding Hope - Fr. Girotti Speaks at Xavier on Monday Night

It is increasingly difficult these days, especially for those who love children, to not despair about the state of the world. As trends in juvenile addiction, violence and suicide skyrocket, an “epidemic of hopelessness”, as it’s described by some health officials, strikes families particularly hard.

But as the darkness and cold of winter approaches, Fr. John Girotti wants to assure families that God has not abandoned them. He always provides hope if we know, not where, but to whom we should look.

The whom will be the focus of his talk, “Finding HOPE in a Hopeless World - the Holy Family, our Light in the Darkness”, at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14, in Xavier’s Fine Arts Theatre. The event is free and open to the public.

With so many wondering what kind of future their little ones will face, Fr. Girotti sees the coming season of Advent as the perfect time to put a spotlight on the trust and optimism modeled by the Holy Family.

“Most families try the best they can,” explained Fr. Girotti, but “they need God’s help!” One easy way to access that help, he added, comes by adding a simple prayer to the daily routine: “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph – make our families more like your own.”

While “there is no such thing as a perfect family”, Fr. Girotti wants parents, grandparents, and all who work to nurture families to know how essential they are. He believes their faith and courage, and what they do to love and serve their families, is key to the future of the world and Jesus’ Church.

Fr. Girotti’s talk is sponsored by CIA-Faith Mission Operatives and is part of the 2022-2023 Investigate Your Faith series held monthly, Sept-May, in the Xavier Theatre. No tickets or reservations are required. A free will offering will be taken to help support future programs which are detailed on the organization’s website (web search ciafmo).
