Upcoming Event
Join SCRC for our next livestream - Who Me, A Brain Research Volunteer?
The progression of cognitive health, dementia, caregiving, and aging treatments is delayed due to the low enrollment of people volunteering to participate in research. Opportunities to make a difference by volunteering range from things you could do from your couch or home office to complex clinical trials sites in major medical centers.

SCRC'S Caregiver of the Month Spotlight: Daria

Daria is a wonderful caregiver, caring for her mother, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease (a form of dementia). She has been caregiving for the past three years and is excited to take SCRC’s REACH2Caregivers classes. Daria’s caregiving work centers around giving her mother an optimal quality of life so that she can continue to live in her home. Daria provides help in all practical ways but also strives to provide a sense of safety and security.

Daria says “Honor the path you are on at all times -- while it often feels like a sacrifice, reframing it as a gift and a privilege is more empowering and truthful, because this is a chance to serve. Remember that your loved one's life is infinitely valuable, and so is what you're doing, no matter how old and/or compromised their material body. What you're doing today is something you'll be able to take with you, along with all of its lessons, all of your days!”
