A Word from Rev. Renae
As a child it was always hard to go to bed on Christmas Eve and know that sometime in the night there would be an influx of presents dropped off in some magical form. We did not have a fireplace, so I knew Santa got in some other way! The anticipation was really a big part of the actual event. Although it seemed like an eternity to wait, it made the day even more special.

I don’t really know that anyone likes to wait. However, some handle it way better than others. I googled some statistics about waiting and found that the average person will spend approximately 5 years waiting in lines and 6 months waiting at red lights in traffic. That sure seems like a lot of time given to waiting.

So how can we learn to be better waiters? I think Advent helps us out with this and hope you will join us on Sunday to explore some things you can do while you wait…

Blessings,
Rev. Renae

As we prepare for our future, we invite you to use these words and pray for King of Peace this week:

Holy God, we are so very thankful for all those who make up King of Peace. Help us to appreciate our past and realize you are doing a new thing in our midst. We have accepted your call to journey into unknown territory and continue to place our future in Your hands. Guide us by Your Spirit and prepare us for the next steps. May we be one in love and mission. We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.
Upcoming Activities
Every year, we help provide some Christmas cheer for a local organization. The men and women at Turning Point, a local drug rehab center, are always quick to help us whenever we need help with moving furniture, putting up ceiling tiles, decorating for Christmas. Turning Point is always there to help out! So, this Christmas we want to say thanks to them for all they have provided for us.

We are hoping to provide for 40 men. The following items are things that we need:

  • Small Duffel bags
  • Tooth brushes and Tooth Paste
  • Conditioner
  • Deodorant
  • Bars of Soap

Sing we now of Christmas...Mark your calendars now for Cookies and Carols on Thursday, December 9th at 7 pm. Bring a tin of cookies to share, and let's join together to sing some of our favorite Christmas carols. This King of Peace tradition is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit!
We are taking up two special Christmas offerings over the next few weeks.

FOR KING OF PEACE

The first is an extra Christmas offering for the church. At this time of year, we are always giving gifts out to those we love. Why not consider giving a gift to King of Peace that is above and beyond what you normally give? It can be whatever you want it to be. No gift is too small. As the old song goes, "Little is much when God is in it!" If you'd like to give a gift, there are stockings in the lobby. Put your gift into the stocking and drop it into the offering plate. We'll hang all the stockings up on the mantle of the fire place in our sanctuary for everyone to see. We'll be accepting these anytime between now and the end of the year!

FOR OUR PASTORS

The second special Christmas offering is for our pastors. This Sunday, Dec. 12th, we have an opportunity to express our deep gratitude for the blessings named Rev Renae, Rev Lorraine, and Rev Ray. Please participate generously by putting your love offering in a separate envelope and making sure to write Pastors' Love Offering on it. This is one way to let them know how happy we are that they are our pastors during this particular part of our King of Peace journey. Thank you.

Our December Board of Directors' Meeting is happening one week earlier than normal. Please join us virtually this coming Tuesday, Dec. 14th at 6:30 pm. The Zoom link information to log in is below:

If you had fun with Family Feud or Match Game, you know this will be a fun time. Come cheer on your favorite contestants and see who takes home the crown (or Santa's hat)!
Christmas Poinsettias
It's that time of year again. Every year, we decorate our sanctuary with beautiful Poinsettias. For $15 you can donate one in honor or memory of your loved one. You can download the form here, or pick one up in the lobby. Deadline to place your order is December 12th. If you have any questions, please email melanie@churchstpetersburg.org or call the church office.
Sunday, December 19th, will be Ugly Christmas Sweater Sunday at King of Peace. We encourage you to wear your Ugly Christmas Sweaters to church. During coffee hour, we'll have a parade of all the sweaters and choose one to be the ugliest of all. That one will win a special prize!
