Rockwell PTA Family & Community Engagement Survey

Hello families! We want to hear from you!

The PTA is starting a new arm focused on family & community engagement and we want to hear your thoughts on how to shape this program and where to focus. The possibilities are endless and your voice matters! We know you are busy but please take 5 minutes to lend us your thoughts - thanks in advance.

Vision and Hearing Screening
Thursday, December 9

Just a quick and friendly reminder - if your child(ren) wear prescription eyeglasses and/or contact lenses, please remind them to wear them to school on December 9th.

You might receive a notice from one of our nurses should your student fails either of the screenings. No notice will be sent if all is well.

If you have any questions, please email Sayori Hinitz
Attention parents of
4th and 5th Graders!

If your student is interested in being part of this spring's theater production, please consider volunteering to help!

We need two (or more) producers to help lead this exciting event! In years past we have done a musical, but due to Covid precautions we are evaluating other theater options. We have started communicating with professional theater companies to make reservations, including picking the production the students will perform, so if you want to be part of that decision, please join us. If you and your student are interested in continuing this wonderful Rockwell tradition, please contact, Gretchen at events@normanrockwellpta.org
2021 Rockwell Food Drive

Our 2021 Rockwell Food Drive will kick off on Monday, December 6th and run through Wednesday, December 15th (a big thank you to Shelby, Cari, and our Leadership students for their work on the drive).

Students and families are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to drop off in bins next to the office, and outside bins before and after school.

Thank you!
Holiday Gift Card Drive
for Rockwell Families

The PTA is hosting a holiday gift card drive for Rockwell families in need. To contribute, please purchase a $25 gift certificate at Target or Fred Meyer. We chose these specific stores because there are multiple locations nearby, and because families can use the funds to purchase either holiday gifts or grocery items. we are asking for specific denomination ($25) to ensure that we can distribute the cards equally among all the families who need them.

The drive will run December 1st through December 10th. During these dates, please look for PTA volunteers at the car drop-off/pick-up line, at the flag pole, and at the back of the school. PTA volunteers will be at these locations at the beginning and at the end of each school day.

Please place the donated gift cards in an envelope that has the name of your child (or children) on the outside of the envelope - the PTA will write each child's name who donated to the drive on a snowflake located near the office (as a show of thanks for your family's generosity).

Families who need help this holiday season should email the school counselor, Kristin Bauer (kbauer@lwsd.org). Names of families who receive gift card donations will be kept strictly confidential.

Thank you!

Lunch Recess Volunteers Needed

We have an immediate need for parent volunteers to assist with lunch recess. Volunteers are needed to help Monday through Friday, for shifts between 11:40AM and 1:00PM. Volunteers will help coordinate specific recess activities for kiddos during lunch recess.

Specifically, volunteers will help manage a small group of kids for specific games (i.e. red light/green light game, coloring station, loom band crafts, shark/minnows sports challenges, HORSE basketball games, etc.) We'd love to have 4-6 parents helping each and every day. Even if you're not able to help the whole shift, we'd love the extra hands for even half and hour. In case you'd like to coordinate your volunteer shift to align with your child's recess, here's the recess schedule:

Kindergarten: 11:40AM - 12:00PM
1st Grade: 11:50AM - 12:30PM
2nd Grade: 12:00PM - 12:30PM
3rd Grade: 12:10PM - 12:40PM
4th Grade: 12:20PM - 12:50PM
5th Grade: 12:30PM - 1:00PM

This is an on-going volunteer opportunity, and we'd love for you to sign up for one shift, or even a dozen. To volunteer, please sign-up HERE

PLEASE NOTE: You must be an approved LWSD volunteer (you can apply HERE if you're not already a registered volunteer). You also need to verify your vaccination status with the district, or Stacy Hatch in our front office (you must bring your vaccination card and ID).

If you have any questions, please email Sri at volunteering@normanrockwellpta.org
