Weekly Update

Dear Munford First UMC Friends,

This week we will observe Scout Sunday, celebrating the history and legacy of our Troop and Pack. With our invitation to our troop to join us, we may have visitors among us who have not worshiped with us before. Please lets do our best to welcome and encourage all new and known faces that ALL would be welcome in our church community.

Join us this week, in our Sanctuary at 9:30am as we gather for worship together as ONE Church family. Sunday School will gather at 10:30am.

We hope you will join us and bring a friend to share with them all the great things happening at Munford FUMC. We are saving a seat for you!

Youth Activities

No Youth Sunday Night - Sunday, February 9. Enjoy the Super Bowl!

Confirmation

Confirmation classes begin the week of February 16.

This is a special time to begin a journey of faith that nurtures and challenges teens to think about the nature of God, the life of Christ and learn about Methodist beliefs. The confirmation classes offer each participant an opportunity to be baptised or confirm their baptism and join the church as full members.

The spring will include a retreat (March 28-30), field trip to a Jewish Synagogue (March 7) and other events.

Confirmation Sunday is Sunday, April 27

Reach out to Will if your youth is ready to participate.

Will's Reading Recommendations

February's Recommended Read:

Churches are called to welcome, love everyone who comes in

by Rev. Mary Beth Eberle

This month's recommendation is a little different. I would love for all of us to read an article from a friend and colleague of mine in Jackson, TN. Mary Beth serves as the pastor of Grace UMC. She writes about what it means to welcome in the church. My thought was that as we have met new faces over the past weeks and months we have such a great opportunity to embrace that bit of our community. What does it mean to welcome, and how important is it to us? You can find the article here at the website for the Jackson Post.

I look forward to your thoughts!

You can expect to see "Recommended Reads" each month, with a suggested book to fit the season of the Church. We also encourage you to check out the church library, where most of these will be available soon after!

Additional Recommended Read For Kids (and Parents)!

Big Hearts, Bright Love is a wonderful book for kids and families to explore together how to grow in love of God and Neighbor! A portion of the proceeds from the book will go to support the adoption agency of the UMC in Florida. We have ordered some copies for the church library. You can purchase your own here, or explore the FREE digital version here.
