October City Council Meeting Recap
Lakeway City Council met in regular session on Monday, Oct. 18. Here is a brief recap from that meeting:

FINANCIALS
The City of Lakeway finance director gave an update on the close of the budget cycle for FY 2021, showing around $1,535,550 of additional revenue, and savings in the amount of $861,895 on expenditures. These totals have not yet been finalized. The start of the new budget cycle (FY 2022) began on Oct. 1, 2021.

CHERRY PEAK OFFICE PARK
City Council unanimously voted in favor of approving a zoning change from single-family residential to commercial for the development of a medical office park called Cherry Peak Office Park Phase II located at 3602 Wild Cherry Drive, which is adjacent to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.

SQUARE ON LOHMANS
City Council unanimously voted in favor of approving a zoning change for the Square on Lohmans development across from The Hills entrance on Lohmans Crossing Road to a Planned Unit Development (PUD). Several conditions were added and included in the vote by City Council. Key features of the development include the construction of Main Street to the existing section at Lohmans Crossing Road, a central gathering space called "The Square," mixed-use commercial/residential buildings, townhomes and single-family residences.

November Election Details
Early voting started earlier this week for several items, including a Lake Travis ISD Tax Ratification Election and elections associated with several state propositions on the Nov. 2 ballot. There are eight state propositions going to the voters. CLICK HERE to view a sample state ballot with additional details about each of the propositions. CLICK HERE to view the local ISDs sample ballot. The nearest early voting location for Lakeway residents is the Lake Travis ISD Educational Development Center located at 607 RR 620 N. Early voting times are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday thru Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Election Day will be Tuesday, Nov. 2 with voting times from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The closest voting location on election day for Lakeway residents is the Lakeway Activity Center located at 105 Cross Creek. COVID-19 Update
Travis County continues to offer multiple COVID-19 vaccine distribution pop-up events throughout the weekend. No appointments are necessary. CLICK HERE for location details, and also for information on the Stage 3 guidelines in place within Travis County.

A total of 118,822 positive cases have been reported to date in Travis County. There have been a total of 4,256 cases in the Lakeway area (zip codes 78734, 78738 and 78669) since the start of the pandemic (up 32 cases from the same time last week, compared to a rise of 71 cases the previous week). There are currently 1,311 active cases at this time in Travis County (down from 1,597 reported last week) and a seven-day moving average of 182 hospitalizations in the region (down from 222 last week). Domestic Violence Awareness

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and is an opportunity to bring to light this issue and its effects on victims, survivors, families and the community as a whole. Last year, officers in Texas responded to 218,950 incidents of family violence, a 10% increase from 2019. Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) provides services throughout Texas, including running 71 shelters. CLICK HERE for some helpful information from HHS. Lakeway Sing Along

The 20th annual family Christmas show performed by Lakeway Sing Along will take place the first weekend of December at the Lakeway Activity Center (105 Cross Creek). The popular music show is once again teaming with LTLov's Green Santa Program. Price of admission for the show will be an unwrapped gift for a child up to the age of 17. Two performances of Lakeway Sing Along's "Breath of Winter" will take place at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5.
