A Note from Scott and Marsha
December 30, 2021
Well, here we are rolling into 2022. We officially closed last week for break and it has been glorious. We will be back in full swing January 3rd with the Garden Center opening Tuesday, January 4th. We have so many exciting plans for the new year and we can't wait!

Even as I reflect on the year, I am reminded there is still a lot of kindness in the world. For example, the week before Christmas, we hosted another Christmas tree and wreath give-away. So, we drew the name of the winner but she already had her tree. Do you know what she did? She gifted her tree to a friend who didn't have one yet. What a kind gesture, as small as it seems, to bless someone else with something they didn't have yet. Everyone could use a friend like that.

We have had countless customer interactions that were encouraging and kind. The Garden Center staff talks regularly of people who continuously shop with us and have been such a blessing to work with and help.

We have one customer that came to For Friday's Sake evening shopping and shared that she has been visiting since her childhood and now she brings her daughter to enjoy FGS. We have Friday regulars who enjoy Sunset Slush and drinks at The Potting Shed on the weekend. Even our event guests now encourage us to have more events just so they can come back sooner.

Kind words and gestures make such a difference to all of us. We hope in 2022, this is at the top of your goals list, even before the typical weight loss/eat healthier/books to read list. While not everyone can stay focused long enough to meet those goals (cough, cough. Me.), we can certainly have a kind heart every day.

Wishing you a safe and healthy New Year. Enjoy a beautiful weekend. We are grateful for you and can't wait to see you in 2022! I can promise you this. We will have all things blooming and green ... and kindness. We will have kindness waiting for you!

GARDEN CENTER FEATURES
MONEY TREE
Looking for a little luck and prosperity in your life? Try a Money Tree! The tree comprises five leaves from one branch each representing the five elements of Feng Shui – Earth, water, wood, metal and fire. The glossy leaves and the braided trunk of the Money Tree gives it an appealing touch making it one of the most popular indoor plants to keep in homes. As per the beliefs, the plant stands for good luck, wealth, answered prayers, prosperity, and positive energy. It's a perfect surprise for those who are starting a new career or business. Along with its status as a luck magnet, Money Tree plants are incredibly easy to care for. They only require indirect light and infrequent watering, making for a no-fuss plant for beginners. What's not to love?
EDIBLE TREES AND SHRUBS
It's not just about the fruit (admittedly, it's mostly about the fruit)! Going into this new gardening season, whether you are starting fresh or planning to reorganize your zones, think about including some edible trees and shrubs. Plant blueberries for their fall color, apples for shade, figs as a fast-growing screen, and persimmons to attract native wildlife. The benefits of edible landscaping are many and include growing food and having a landscape that is unique and eye-appealing.
TERRA COTTA POTTERY
Have a new plant? Looking for the perfect pot? Overwhelmed by the hundreds of options of pots? We’ve been there. That’s why we love the classic – terra cotta pots! They’re great for plants because they’re porous and allow air and water to flow through them. A perfect addition to your living room, patio or garden, these planters make a timeless option for any space. Come check out our collection of different sizes and colors!
