Happy Holidays, Vikings!


  • In addition to Marking Day on Friday, Dec. 17, there will be no classes Dec. 20-31.


  • Faculty and staff will return on Monday, Jan. 3, for an Institute Day; students are welcomed back for a full day & the start of the second semester on Tuesday, Jan. 4.


  • During break, district and school offices will be open from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and will be closed Dec. 24 & Dec. 31.


  • Pick up a gift for your favorite Viking or Viking fan! Campus Store hours for Dec. 14-17 are: 7:30-8:30 a.m., 10:30-1:30 p.m. & 3-3:30 p.m. Hours may vary next week; call 708-335-5570 for details.


H-F Library's Winter Reading Program


Winter break is almost here, which means it’s time to read a good book (or two)! Each year, the H- F Library hosts a Winter Reading program to encourage students and staff to read during the winter break and the New Year. The library has a number of great books available for checkout, so we hope to see you in the library soon so you can get a book before winter break!

6th Annual Pursuing the Dream:

Wednesday, Jan. 12

Join us at 7 p.m. on Jan. 12 in the Mall Auditorium for a night of powerful performances, presentations, visual arts, and much more! In our annual event, Pursuing the Dream, we will pay tribute to a historical leader whose legacy imbues the excellence of Black history and Black culture. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., proclaimed that "faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." We hope you will honor us with your presence as we celebrate the multitude of first steps that have shaped and impacted this nation and the world abroad. Note: This is a free event, but due to capacity restrictions, a ticket may be required. Details coming soon!

Summer School Sign Up: Jan. 22

District 233 has received funds as a result as the pandemic, allowing H-F High School to offer all 2022 Summer School courses — as well as Summer School transportation — at no cost to district families!


Summer School classes will run 8 a.m.-12:50 p.m. Mondays through Fridays June 6-July 15 this summer in the South Building. The courses listed below will be available for Credit Recovery for those students who have failed first semester courses. Credit Recovery courses will be through the online Acellus Program (with the exception of Physics). Teachers will be on campus every day for in-person assistance for students, if necessary.


  • ENGLISH — English 1, English 2 and English 3
  • MATH — Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2/Trigonometry
  • SCIENCE — Biology, Chemistry and Physics (Physics will be an in-person class)


Social Science courses — including World History, U.S. History, Economics and U.S. Government & Politics — will also be available for those students who are interested in opening their schedule up for more electives during the school year. These classes will be held in-person.


Registration for Summer School will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning on Saturday, Jan. 22, from 8 a.m.-Noon in the North Building.

Debate Team: Belvidere Results


Congratulations to the H-F Debate team for competed at the Belvidere Blue Thunder Invitational and for receiving the following awards:


  • Freshman Adeyemi Kasali was the 4th place team in the novice Lincoln-Douglas division.
  • Freshman Everett Van Till & junior Mickey McGrory were the 7th place team in the Novice Public Forum division.
  • Sophomore Kevin Gibek was the 3rd place speaker & the 2nd place team in the JV Lincoln-Douglas division. 
  • Junior Peyton Jackson was the 5th place team in the varsity Lincoln-Douglas division.

The team is sponsored by Mrs. Cole, English teacher, and Ms. Carroll, Special Education teacher.

Chess Club: Another Conference Win


Congratulations to the Varsity Chess team for winning its conference match on Tuesday, Dec. 7. The team defeated Lockport Township H.S. with a score of 56.5 to 11.5! Senior Christian Tate, junior Joshua Bray, sophomore Elijah Burr, and freshmen Lyndon Proby, Eric Nickerson & Everett Van Til had impressive victories. The team is coached by Mrs. White, Math / Career & Technical Education teacher.
