Our Neighbors' News

Beloved friends, let us love one another... 1 John 4:7

Andrew found his way to One Bistro by volunteering with a group of guys from the Jeremiah Tree discipleship program. He really enjoyed his time, had fun serving and decided to come back and volunteer some more.

Speaking about his experience Andrew said, “I have a couple years of experience serving at various locations and I've come to love it. It's a job I do exceptionally well and it's a great opportunity to talk about God with strangers. Finding an outlet where I can serve again is amazing.”

When asked about his personal journey, he shared, “I grew up in the church but it was always my parents’ belief and not mine. I found myself walking away from God and falling into mental illness and addiction for over 10 years. In the past few years, I've found myself drawn back to God through realizing how he's protected and provided for me and by watching the change in my brothers, and through God’s grace, the Godly men they have become. It's been hard to learn how to allow God and allow him to do the same for me but I'm slowly learning and growing."

If you are dining in One Bistro on a Friday, there is a good chance you will be served by Andrew. He really is exceptional and his friendliness is complimented by the joy he exudes. We are grateful to have Andrew on our volunteer team!

Community Partnerships

Xenia Walmart

We love our community partnerships! Victor and Shane from Xenia's Walmart made a wonderful donation of canned goods to One Bistro in support of our mission to provide a place where our neighbors eat and come together as one community!!

New Ministry Meal

Miami Valley Juvenile Rehabilitation Center

One Bistro loves the opportunity to support various ministries and organizations in our community through our Ministry Meal program. Each week we bless a particular group with delicious family-style meals.

In January, we added a new group to our rotation, the Miami Valley Juvenile Rehabilitation Center. Christian Blair, a program manager at MVJRC said, "Our youth were very excited and happy to be receiving a high-quality meal from One Bistro. The youth as well as MVJRC as a whole are very thankful and grateful for the opportunity to receive these meals every month. I can say the youth have already started asking about what the meal will be for next month and are very much looking forward to it!"

We also provide monthly Ministry Meals for Toward Independence, Family Promise, Her Story, Greene County Juvenile Detention Center and Violence Free Futures.

Steve Brodsky

One Bistro's New Board President

Steve Brodsky, One Bistro's new Board President, was one of a group of city and civic leaders who visited One Bistro's first location in Miamisburg in order to determine if the community cafe concept would be a good fit and asset to Xenia. It was clear from the start that One Bistro is a place that brings the community together. "There are many things that divide us today, however all of us need to eat and all of us want to feel we belong." Steve was instrumental in obtaining one of the first grants that contributed to One Bistro opening in Xenia. He and his wife Michelle also have sponsored Community Meals, volunteered with their Church, Faith Ignited, and Steve says, "One Bistro is one of the best places in town to bring someone for a business lunch. The best thing about One Bistro is that everyone who walks through the doors feels they are welcome and belong there. I love that we are serving as the hands and feet of Jesus. One of my favorite Bible verses is 1 Peter, 4:10 'Each of you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.' One Bistro is the living embodiment of this."

Beautiful Smiling Faces in the Bistro

"Interesting concept in affordable dining/community ministry/pay it forward. Food was great and the volunteers serving were so nice and helpful. We enjoyed it and would recommend."
