Spring is here and evidence of new life is appearing everywhere around us! Until later this fall, the cool mornings and early sunsets have been brushed aside by longer and warmer days. These days of spring call us outside to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.
As I experience the perpetual rhythm of changing seasons, I am reminded of God’s sovereignty over all His creation, especially in all our personal journeys and transitions.
Growth and change are also themes of our Meriwether team during this time. Starting an independent firm, adding key staff members, and growing our services over the last several years have all been efforts to improve our ability to meet the growing needs of you, our clients. This season of growth is also marked by planning for the future – so that we can continue to serve you well for decades to come.
This season of growth will mean some changes for me personally as well. In October 1983 at the age of 27, I began my career as a financial advisor – and this October marks my 40th anniversary. During the past 40 years I have seen many changes and have accumulated many amazing stories. However, my greatest rewards are the clients who have allowed me to serve them and the amazing people I have had the privilege of working with.
Obviously, 40 years later I am now in a different season, and I am preparing to make a transition in my role at Meriwether. Several of you have asked if I am retiring. The short answer is “no”, but the longer answer is that my work and my role will be shifting to more of a mentoring and coaching role within our team. As many of you know, this is a natural transition that many people go through in this season (although it doesn’t always feel like one!).
Practically, there are several changes that we want you to be aware of. First of all, I have recently transferred my ownership in Meriwether to Tracy, Andy, and Jeremy. This was part of our annual ADV update that went out in April and has been part of our plan since the beginning. I am excited about their continued and growing leadership in the company and know that they will continue to serve you well in the years to come. Secondly, as many of you already know, we are in the process of bringing Andy, Tracy, or Jeremy into each client relationship to serve as the primary advisor. We have completed this process with many of you, but there are still some introductions that need to be made and conversations to have.
Growth and change that come with the seasons can be difficult, but it can also be exciting. As I reflect on this, I am thankful for all of you – and I am thankful that I get the opportunity to continue to serve you, albeit in a different capacity going forward. All of us at Meriwether are committed to continue guiding you well in the seasons and journeys ahead!
