March 2021
What’s the greatest lesson a woman should learn? That since day one, she’s already had everything she needs within herself. It’s the world that convinced her she did not.
Rupi Kaur, poet
Dear friends,
March is National Women’s History Month, and International Women’s Day is on March 8. The first gathering was held in 1911.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and it marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. For despite progress, in 2020 women still make only $0.81 for every dollar a man makes. And the gender gap widens for women of color.

As people of faith, it is important to speak out for the dignity of all women, to lift up women’s accomplishments and to commit ourselves to challenge gender injustice.

In love,
Jan Musgrove Elfers
EMO President
My feminism means daily affirming the full humanity and capabilities of women as part of God’s beloved creation.
