I’M HOME

Russell was at a bible study yesterday, and when he came into the house he said, “I’m home.” It was so good to hear those words.

Some day we will leave this earth and enter heaven or hell. It will be our permanent “home.” Interestingly enough, we make the choice where we go while we are alive on earth. Sorry, there is no intermediate holding place to make up your mind. Hebrews 9:27 makes this very clear. It says, “and as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”  

Judgment day is coming for all living men and women, boys, and girls. There are two judgment seats. The Great White Throne judgment seat where the lost are judged for their sin and then sent to hell, and the Bema Seat where believer’s works are judged.  

When Jesus died on the cross, he paid the debt of sin with his innocent blood. (Hebrews 9:22) Blood must be shed to put away sin, but with mankind, the blood must be innocent blood. No human being has innocent blood because we inherited a “sin nature” from Adam.

Where you spend “home” in the future is entirely up to you. You can receive payment for your sin by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior, or you can reject him and spend eternity separated from him in hell.

Where will your home be? I look forward to the day when I leave this earth, meet Jesus, and say, “I’m home.” What about you?
