Sharing the Love

Ways to share the love this February.

Roses are red; violets are blue...

If you're looking for ways to share the love with others,

The Holly Springs Food Cupboard's got you!

Following an active holiday season when food drives are plentiful, it's normal for donations of nonperishable food items to dip early in the year at the Holly Springs Food Cupboard. So, if you'd like to make a real and impactful difference in the community in February, consider these ways to help local families experiencing food insecurity.

1️⃣ Organize a food drive at your civic group, business, place of worship, school... or among any group! Learn more about organizing a drive on the Cupboard website.

2️⃣ Want a way to help keep donations going throughout the year? Consider forming a neighborhood Porch team that organizes monthly neighborhood food drives and delivers the contributions the Cupboard. Learn more about Porch Holly Springs.

3️⃣ Consider making a charitable donation. Even as little as $5 a month can make a difference. A guaranteed monthly income allows the Cupboard to better allocate scarce resources. Learn more about these options on the Cupboard website.

2024 at the Cupboard

Here's a look back at totals from 2024 and the impact the Holly Springs Food Cupboard made on our community, thanks to generous supporters and volunteers:

Around the Cupboard Last Month

Cupboard Volunteers Brrrrave Cold Temperatures

From staying active and moving... to pausing beside the heater... to bundling up... to breaking out the hand warmers: Cupboard volunteers found ways to stay warm during some chilly distribution days last month!

In honor of MLK Day, volunteers at the Kraft Family YMCA put together 283 soup kits for Food Cupboard families and brought in additional much-needed food donations. Thanks, too, to our loyal volunteer, Diana, for working with the YMCA to help make this happen!

We were especially grateful to receive a donation of nonperishable food from Holly Springs United Methodist Church’s reverse advent calendar food drive. Members were encouraged to add a different food item to a bag for each of the days in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Thank you!

Thanks to Local Time Brewing for being an awesome food donation drop-off site and for stopping by with donations! We appreciate you!

The Cupboard handed out 7,033 student bags in 2024, and we appreciate the community's support in helping continue this service.

We are so thankful for our local Holly Springs Rotary Club who dropped off 250 vinyl bags to be used for student bags and 59 hygiene kits for our clients. Holly Springs Rotary also provided a generous donation for the student bag items!

The amazing students at Ashe School of Music decided to also help focus on our student bag need and raised funds to help ensure that the Cupboard can continue to hand them out to families with school-aged children.

Cupboard Garden Activity

After a winter break, the Cupboard garden is reopening for volunteer work this month!

Saturdays, Feb. 15 and 22, volunteers are welcome, 9-11 a.m.

Individuals and families can show up any time during these hours to help. No need to bring any tools - just gloves and maybe water.

Organized groups like schools, student clubs, churches, and businesses should contact garden@hsfoodcupboard.org to schedule a special work day for their group.

See you in the garden!
