Thanksgiving Break Reprieve

As we approach the Thanksgiving break, it is my sincere hope that each of us can find time to simply rest. And to support this effort, I have made the decision that there will be no new assignments given to students that are to be completed over the week we are away. The final few weeks before the calendar flips to 2022 are the next leg in this marathon, and we cannot make it to the finish line without taking care of ourselves and supporting each other.

Superintendent's Survey
All of our families are encouraged to participate in the Superintendent’s Parent Survey. Your responses will help Superintendent House understand parents’ experiences with the district so far. This will help inform the district’s planning to improve student learning across the district. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete, and your answer will be completely anonymous. Click here to complete the survey.
Ms. Negri, Yearbook Sponsor
"Thank goodness for Andrea Negri,” Texas Association of Journalism Educators Executive Director Cindy Todd said in her nomination letter. “Andrea’s hard work provides countless opportunities for both students and advisers across the country. Here in Texas, she’s a special blessing.”
The yearbook adviser at Bellaire High School, Negri not only contributes her time and talent to her own students but also to students around the state, playing an ongoing role in lobbying for passage of New Voices in Texas and serving as the contest director for the TAJE and secretary of the Association of Texas Photography Instructors. Congrats Ms. Negri! We are #CardinalProud

Crocodile Encounter to visit BHS AQS Classes
This is normally one of our stops in field trips. Since we couldn't do field trips, we scheduled them to come to us. They will bring live reptiles for students to see, touch & learn about. Presentations will occur each class period except 3rd & will reach approximately 300 students. It is always something the students enjoy on field trips.

The owner is a former science teacher who parlayed his love of science into a local zoo business that has many employees. He even had exhibits at local museums.

A portion of student lab fees paid for the event.

The deadline for families to register extended to Dec. 19. Access to reliable internet is an essential part of a student’s educational journey. In another step to close the digital divide, the district is inviting households to apply for high-speed broadband internet through a partnership with the Texas Education Agency Connect Texas (TEACT) program. COVID-19 Notification Changes
We wanted to update you regarding the manner in which we will share notifications with families and the larger community. We will continue to follow the protocols shared in the Houston ISD Ready, Set, Go plan when a student is in close contact with a confirmed and/or presumed positive case. However, the district has shared that we should no longer share the general announcement with the entire school community, and instead only communicate with those directly impacted. The Houston ISD COVID-19 Dashboard remains updated on a regular basis and can be accessed at this link.
