Tropical Storm Idalia is forecast to intensify and become a hurricane as it moves north in the Gulf of Mexico. Idalia is expected to make landfall on the Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday morning. Kiawah property owners should prepare for potentially heavy rainfall, tropical storm-force winds, and storm surge beginning Wednesday evening

BEGIN YOUR PREPARATIONS

Residents and property owners are advised to monitor local media, review their hurricane plans, and begin to prepare their property or make contact with their property managers.

COMMUNITY PREPARATIONS

The town and community association are coordinating island preparations in the event that our area is directly affected.

Today KICA lowered pond levels in the two largest drainage basins (Beachwalker and Canvasback) through one low tide cycle to increase stormwater storage capacity. Drainage gates have been closed to incoming tides. Staff will monitor the forecast to determine the next steps for stormwater management.
