New Children's Worship and Nursery Available for 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Services

Starting this Sunday, October 24, we are starting something new and really exciting for children ages 3-5th grade: Children's Worship at the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services! Kids will be invited to worship with their parents and then will be dismissed during the offering to join Pastor Tiffany for Children's worship in the new Children's Chapel (located in Room 234). What is Children's Worship you might ask? It is a time for children to worship God in the ways that kids naturally experience the world around them: through play, wonder, art, fun, laughter, music, dance and friendship. We will be having creative worship that will involve kids of all ages and also use worship art to create a beautiful worship space specifically made by our kids here at St. John's UMC. Also, keep your eyes open in sanctuary and FLC for some art 'blessings' from Children's Worship.

Parents, feel free to walk your child to the Children's Chapel during the offertory if this might help with the 'newness'. Kids can also meet Pastor Tiffany at the back of the sanctuary at 11 a.m. or the left back door of the FLC at 9:30 a.m. on their own. We would love to have adults volunteer to help with this wonderful new experience. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Tiffany (thollums@stjohns-abq.org).

And as always, nursery is available during the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services for children ages 2 and under in Room 236.
Charge Conference Scheduled for November 7: Sign Up on Sunday

Our “regularly scheduled” Charge Conference has been set for Sunday, November 7 at 6:30 p.m. We will meet in the Family Life Center with Rev. Craig Cockrell (Albuquerque District Superintendent) presiding. Our fantastic Food Ministry team will be providing a light meal starting at 6 p.m. (just prior to the meeting portion of the evening), and we ask folks to RSVP either by contacting Mary Garcia in the church office or signing up using one of the sign-up sheets at the hospitality desk in the narthex or with the ushers at the Abide service so we can get a reasonably accurate headcount.
Practice of Presence Cancelled Today

There will be no Practice of Presence zoom meeting today, October 22 at 9:30 a.m. This group will resume meetings next week, on October 29.
Nursery Seeking Volunteers

Are you looking for a meaningful way to serve? The nursery is offered during 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services (in room 236 upstairs) and serving in the nursery is a wonderful way for you to serve the church and to also be blessed as you care for these little ones who are so precious to us. If you are interested in serving, please contact Pastor Tiffany (thollums@stjohns-abq.org). Even if you are able to serve one service once a month, this would be such a gift to give to parents as they come to worship.
Prayer Shawls Are Available Again in the Hospitality Center

For many years the Ladies Needle Arts program has knitted/crocheted shawls for those who are physically, emotionally, and spiritually in need. With the reopening of activities here at St. John's, the basket of shawls has been once again placed in the Hospitality Center where anyone can choose one.  If one of our prayer shawls would make a difference in someone’s life, they are there for that purpose. Blessings for the comfort they give.

Preschool News

Greeting Church Family!

Thank you for the beautiful Balloon Bouquet, the Flowers, and the very sweet Card we received! The sentiment in the card was so wonderful. Our Preschool Staff were very surprised and grateful! We are very excited that we received our first payment this week! Wow!

One sad note, we had to close this week for a positive COVID test result. We miss our families very much and praying for them daily. So far, everyone is doing well.
This next week the Preschool will be having a decade’s party! Each classroom has chosen a decade and will be dressing up, having a fun snack and dance parties. Each classroom will be exploring ideas from the past and sharing about their family history. May be during some of the exploring we will find out about those 80’s hairstyles.

Our next Theme will be “Giving Thanks”. We want you to know how Grateful we are for all of you!!!

Blessings and Peace,
Cathy Lubold Preschool Director
