Safety as a Value in the Workplace

Source: NGFA

During Harvest Safety Week 2023, daily emails with resources to help establish “Safety as Value in the Workplace,” emphasizing the importance of building “safety first” environments at grain handling facilities was provided.

Topics included:

  • Safety as a workplace value
  • Accepting human error
  • preparing bins for harvest
  • Evolution of workplace safety in grain handling
  • Harvest hazards
  • Hazard identification methods

These resources discuss the increased hazards during harvest time and methods for maintaining effective safety programs during the harvest season.

A Slice of the Big Sky

This story (linked below) was published on August 4, 2023, by The New York Times. I can easily see how it may have gotten missed by the daily grind of harvest and everyday living. The fourth paragraph was well written, “remote and vast, this part of Montana (Hi-Line) is a place where rows of golden wheat fields recede into endless horizons, where a long two-lane highway is colored by grain elevators…” For me, raised on a dry land farm, much of what this author writes sings true to the heart but also depicts places and people of our truly great state. I hope you enjoy the article.

I hope you are able to read it!
