Indoor Worship with Holy Eucharist

We will continue to worship indoors this Sunday, December 19th, at both 8:00 and 9:30.
Masks are required and we ask that you leave space between yourselves and others if possible. The nursery will be available during the 9:30 service. Please note that services will continue to be Livestreamed on Facebook and uploaded to YouTube for those who wish to worship virtually.

It’s hard to believe Christmas is almost here! Our season of Advent is quickly coming to an end. Your servant leaders have decided to keep the church open as an act of hopeful love. We hope to create a safe space in person and virtually for all who seek connection in Christ. If you’re attending in person we ask that you please do everything in your power to help keep our community safe. Please vaccinate/get a booster if you are eligible. Please wear a mask over your nose and mouth. Please refrain from singing indoors. Please be mindful of others and keep your distance. Please assess your own health before attending church. Do not come if you feel ill or have any Covid symptoms. And if you are bringing guests from outside our community then in addition to following the guidelines listed above, please ask them to sign in so we can contact them if we become aware of Covid Exposure. Below is the schedule for Christmas Eve and Day. May God keep us all safe as we celebrate the new beginning the birth of Christ brings.

12/24 Christmas Eve Pageant, 4pm
Please join us for a joyful service filled with carols sung by an intergenerational choir. This service will not be live streamed in the interest of keeping our children’s privacy safe. There will not be Eucharist at this service to streamline the event so that our time indoors in a larger crowd is limited. We will proceed outside immediately following the service where all may sing a few carols together!
12/24 Christmas Eve Service with Eucharist, 9pm
Please join us for a reverent service where we will celebrate the Eucharist together. The service will begin at 9pm, there is no carol singing beforehand. This service will be live streamed and later posted to YouTube for those that wish to attend virtually. The service will conclude with a procession outside to sing a few carols together by candlelight!
12/25 Christmas Day Service with Eucharist, 10am
Please join us to celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day! The service will be held in the Sanctuary this year to insure social distancing. This service will not be live streamed.

Children's Ministry: Godly Play will be held during the 9:30 service on Sunday, Dec. 19.
Middle & High School Ministry: This Saturday, Dec. 18th we are meeting to bake Christmas cookies! See below for details. No youth group until we meet again in the new year.

Youth Cookie Bake: All 5th-12th graders are invited to help bake and decorate cookies on Saturday, December 18th from 1:00-4:00pm. The cookies will be delivered the next day to the homes we carol to after church on the 19th. Join us for (outdoor) caroling!

For those able to do so, please join us as we travel together to visit some of our loved ones, delivering cookies and carols, this Sunday, December 19th, 11:30.
Here are the details:
11:30--We'll leave church for our first visit to Lake Minnetonka Care Center where we'll deliver Christmas gifts and cookies. We'll sing some carols (outdoors), greeting the residents from a safe distance.
After Lake Minnetonka Care Center, we'll split into two groups. Each group will have names and addresses of 2 homes to be visited (fewer visits than previous years). At each stop we will have: music leaders for outdoor caroling and cookies to deliver.

Episcopal Peace Fellowship's series of free, one hour, online presentations continues on Sunday, January 2 at 4:00 pm Eastern with learning from the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing, presented by Dr. Catherine Meeks. Dr. Catherine Meeks is working with ECMN's Racial Justice and Healing consultant Heidi Kim and with our Racial Justice & Healing Formation team to create those formation resources. Dr. Catherine Meeks, founding executive director of the Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing, takes the healing of racism deeper than politics to address the injuries and grievances we bear in our hearts.

Carols of Comfort and Joy
Concert by Ensemble Aventura on
Sunday, January 2nd at 4:00

Join us on the afternoon of Sunday, Jan. 2 for “Carols of Comfort and Joy,” a holiday concert by Ensemble Aventura, a jazz and world music quintet featuring Monica and Roger Stratton along with their friends Sarah Bertsch (violin), Brian Ogren (bass) and Dave Hanzel (percussion). They will perform fresh adaptations of familiar carols as well as carols from Spain, France, Brazil, Ukraine, and more. Monica will even sing a few bars of Welsh, in honor of our parish’s patron! The concert begins at 4:00, is free and open to all, and will last about an hour. We plan to offer the concert both in person (with masks and distancing) and on livestream. |

Epiphany Baby Shower Announcement |

One of our favorite annual events is coming up soon at St. David’s! Sunday, January 9, 2022 will be St. David’s annual celebration of the Epiphany Baby Shower for our local outreach partners, Reach and Restore. Based in Hopkins, Reach & Restore connects people in need to people with resources on a case by case basis in a variety of ways. It all begins with a referral from a local agency, church, social worker or community member who contacts Reach & Restore with the situation. A trained volunteer from Reach & Restore calls the referred person and has a conversation that confirms the specific need(s). Many times the needs include household or furniture items, help with job or housing searches, a repair, or clothing. The person who needs assistance often needs a listening ear, encouragement and prayer. When Reach & Restore is not able to provide help, other resources are suggested that may be of help.
The St. David’s baby shower is aimed at families or single mothers who are in need, often experiencing homelessness and transitioning to more stable housing. On that Sunday, bring your items being donated to the church and at the 9:30 service we will carry our gifts up to the altar.
Needed items include:
- Diapers, wipes
- Onesies
- Footies, socks
- Winter snowsuits
- Crib-sized mattress pads, sheets
- Baby blankets
- Baby bibs
- Feminine hygiene products
- Car seat covers, blankets
- Toys, especially learning
- Board books

ICA collection this Sunday
Just a reminder that this Sunday will be the last collection of food and personal care items for ICA in 2021. If you are planning to attend church services in person, you can put your items for donation in the ICA baskets found at every church entrance. Otherwise, you can put your donated items in the ICA baskets anytime through Sunday evening.
The following items have been identified as specific needs this month:
* tea, coffee
* kids’ snacks & beverages
* wet & dry cat food, kitty litter
* personal care items (toothpaste, deodorant, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner)
* baby food, baby wipes, size 5 diapers, pull-ups
Another option to support ICA’s community outreach
If you prefer to make an end of the year donation to ICA, just go online at www.icafoodshelf.org and select Donate from the menu. There you will find additional information on ways to give. Or you can simply mail a check to ICA Food Shelf, 12290 St. David’s Road, Minnetonka 55305. Financial gifts can be given to honor or memorialize a loved one.

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.

If the prayer need is ongoing, please reach out and we will keep their names on the list. If anyone's prayer need is shorter than four weeks, please also note that. This way we will keep all prayer lists updated and recent.
