ISBNPA2025 Scientific Program

We dedicate significant resources to developing the program for the ISBNPA Annual Meeting. Over 100 reviewers, whom we sincerely thank, evaluate each submitted abstract, with two reviewers assigned per abstract. Leaders of our Special Interest Groups are invited to participate in this process. They help select the best presentations for the awards session and review all submissions related to their specific topics.

The final stage of developing the program involves a dedicated team of about 10 colleagues who participate in an intensive and rewarding two-day meeting. During this meeting, the team organizes sessions by Special Interest Group and identifies emerging themes from the submissions—a truly grassroots process.

We always capture these meetings with a group photo, some of which you can see in the collage below. It's incredibly exciting to witness the program come together, thanks to the collective information, expertise, and effort of our entire team.

ISBNPA2025 Venue

During this meeting, we also visited the [Aotea venue], which gave us a much clearer vision of the conference. With this clarity, we're better equipped to set effective goals and establish procedures to achieve them.

What a remarkable vision we now have! The venue is ideally suited for ISBNPA, featuring several foyers and cozy corners perfect for intimate discussions and networking opportunities. The meeting rooms are excellent as well, providing an ideal setting for you to present your most outstanding research.

Opening bids for ISBNPA2027

After thorough and well-informed discussions, the Executive Committee has voted to continue holding our Annual Meeting, albeit with a slightly different geographical rotation schedule aimed at reducing our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 25%.

One of the key pieces of information we used was based on the concept of geographic and GHG emissions "centers of gravity (see image)." In essence, we analyzed the locations of over 2,500 ISBNPA members to determine where in the world we could hold a conference with the lowest GHG emissions. We extend our gratitude to Karim Abu Omar and Tobias Volk for their invaluable support in this process.

Our analysis revealed that the regions with the lowest potential GHG emissions for our ISBNPA members are as follows:

1. The region encompassing Belgium, The Netherlands, and South-East UK, which could reduce our GHG emissions by approximately 33% compared to other regions.

2. Northeastern America (including Ontario, Quebec, New York, and Massachusetts)

3. Southeastern Australia

4. Souteastern Africa

As we have already secured Cádiz, Spain for ISBNPA2026, we are now inviting bids for ISBNPA2027 in Northeastern America (Ontario, Quebec, New York, Massachusetts).
