Campaign Update From Janelle

Dear Supporters,

I want to thank so many of you for coming out to the Lynnwood Campaign Kick-off at the Tasters Wok last week. We had a very crowded house and the excitement in the air was phenomenal! A big Thank-you to Senator Ron Muzzall (10th LD) for coming out and speaking about what is happening in Olympia. Thank you also to Edmonds Port Commissioner David Preston for emceeing the event and to Dr. Robert Mitchell for his lovely introduction.

There I spoke about the issues the 21st LD and the state are facing. Issues that affect us all in some way: Public Safety, Addiction and Homelessness, Raising School Standards, and Keeping Residential Single-Family Zoning Decisions Local rather than at the state level. You can see more on the platform by visiting www.JanelleCass.com/platform. If you missed the Kick-off and still want to contribute, you can do still go to my website and Donate.

A couple weeks ago, I helped clean up an encampment where addicts lived. It was a heartbreaking scene. The greenspace was covered in garbage, drug paraphilia, used heroin needles, women's clothing, make up and shoes, wet mattresses, human waste and more. It is hard to believe that people live this way. This is what addiction does to so many of our neighbors, family members and young adults. In addition to the overwhelming evidence of drug abuse and sex trafficking, the dozens of scorched trees showed the possibilities of fire hazards in our neighborhoods.

As an environmental engineer, it strikes me that these greenspaces have turned into an ecological nightmare. The toxins and hazardous waste in these sites are not only unfit for these addicts to live in, but it has long term effects on our storm water systems, soil contamination, wildlife species, public spaces and private properties.

Allowing this to take place in our communities is NOT compassionate for the addicts nor good the environment! As your next senator, I plan to address the addiction issues at the core of the problem, find solutions that work to get these addicts into treatment and long-term recovery, and mitigate the ecological disasters all over our state.

Last year I held a forum on addiction as it relates to homelessness, what is working to help these people and what is not. You are invited to listen to our panel of experts on the video link below:

As you know addiction directly ties in with public safety. Crime has skyrocketed in our county and state. Much of this is due to a combination of the increase of drug addiction along with bad legislation and policies backed by my opponent, that hamper our law enforcement from doing their jobs.

I want to express my deepest condolences to the Everett Police Department and the family of Dan Rocha, violently killed in the line of duty last week and to the Edmonds Police Department who lost a brother, Tyler Steffins, who was killed a few days ago, off-duty in Las Vegas. These are tragic deaths that reflect the rise in crime all over. Please pray for the safety of all our law enforcement and for their morale, as they suffer these losses.

There is much to be done to improve our district and state. You can help stop a lot of the bad policies coming out of Olympia by helping replace the current senator in the 21st Legislative District. My proven history shows that I am connected to the community, care about your concerns, safety and pocketbook, and will fight for what matters to you!

I ask you to volunteer for our campaign, doorbell, make phone calls, hold meet and greet fundraisers with your friends and neighbors, put up signs and donate to this campaign. Please like and share content on our Facebook page to help spread the word, as well as forwarding this email to all your friends and neighbors, even if they are not in the 21st LD. This seat affects the entire state of Washington.

Help us to reach everyone with our message. Every dollar helps. Our campaign limit is $2,000. Your donation of $25, $50, $100, $500 or more is so appreciated and will be used to effectively communicate to all voters, so we can flip the seat in Olympia. Only 4 seats need to change over, to bring balance and common sense back to our state government.

Thank you all for your support. I ask for your vote.
