The phrase “going from 0-100 miles per hour” seems more appropriate for the racetrack than a school year. Yet during fall, the activity of teachers’ plans and school events quickly “rev up,” often creating some sense of survival or heightened anxiety.
How about you? Are there plans or events you are anxious about, or wondering how they will get done? God has said through his prophet Jeremiah,
“For I know the plans I have for you . . . plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”
What comfort for us to know that his plans are only in our best interest, with his ultimate plan to have a stronger, eternal relationship with us. To accomplish that, he knows precisely what mix of pain, joy, sorrow, prosperity, trial, and blessing are necessary to keep us close to him.
While we may race through each day, we rise each day knowing that the God who loved us enough to send his Son to save us will lead us according to his purpose and benefit. This allows us to face the future with confidence. Here we go!
