Monthly News & Updates

October 2022 | Issue 3

From the Co-Presidents

What a great start we have had to our CPWC year! Our opening luncheon was a great success! We had great attendance, met some new people, and watched a darling fashion show put on by Willow Park. It felt so good to get back in the rhythm of seeing friends after the summer break.

Finally, we are getting some fall weather. As we look forward to all the CPWC events this month it's time for us to get outside to take advantage of it! We also want to give a shout-out to what was described to me once as “our secret park”. McFarlane Park can feel like “ours”, but of course it’s open to the whole community. We encourage promoting the park but we also encourage everyone who uses it to consider donating any monetary amount to sustain it. Not only does the park give me such a sense of peace when walking through the woods, it brings our community together when we have events there. We hope to see you all at the Halloween Event at the end of this month!

It wouldn’t be a President’s Letter if it didn’t get mushy at some point. Susan and I are both feeling “sandwiching” right now. Who else is feeling the push and pull of taking care of our kids as well as aging parents/grandparents? It can be very stressful, so I encourage our community to support each other. If you know someone in this situation, ask how you can help. If you are in this situation, reach out and tell us what you need. A phone conversation? A hug? This group is the BEST at supporting.

We look forward to seeing many of you this month. Happy Fall!

XO - Lesli and Susan

Your CPWC Co-Presidents

Run/Walk 5K

Hello Friends!

Our next walk will be at 9 am Monday, October 3 in the Blackland neighborhood. Plan to meet at Kristine Ward's house (4240 Blackland Drive). A few can park in her driveway and others on the street. Carpool if you can. Plan to walk at least an hour, but feel free to peel off whenever you need to or walk a little longer if you want. Find those who walk your pace and catch up on life!

Monday, October 17 is the Cruise the Course walk and is a lot of fun. If you have not signed up yet, click on the button below for all the details. This will count as our second walk of the month, but you can always reach out through the GroupMe app and invite someone to go for a walk at any time.

Also, we are planning to do a 7K in November and a 5K in December. Click on the links below for Pink Ribbon Events as well as the events for November and December to learn more. Family and friends are welcome to join you for the 7K and 5K. We would love to have you all join us and represent our club and East Cobb! And remember, you are not required to run any of these events! Some will choose to run, but most will choose to walk.

Gardening Interest Group

We have a date with some orchids! Peach State Orchids in Woodstock will welcome us on Wednesday, November 16. We are calling it a tour but it is really a shopping trip. See some of the amazing species that Peach State offers in addition to the phalaenopsis that we usually grow. If we carpool from the ACC parking lot, we should leave about 930am. Carpooling is necessary because parking is constrained at the venue. Please contact Karin to put your name on the list.

Offer your feedback so we can plan for the next activities year.

Send your ideas to Karin along with your ideas for our next year's activities.
