November 2022 Newsletter
Domestic Violence Awareness Month has ended, but you can still make a difference!

Throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, FCC staff, clients and supporters joined partners across the nation to amplify awareness and engage our communities by sharing the power of everyone’s #1Thing. We know that just one person’s actions can make change, and the butterfly effect of our collective #1Things can inspire incremental shifts over time, broadening our impact on future generations.

Take a minute to hear #1Things from some of the amazing staff who work with families at FCC every day to interrupt cycles of intimate partner violence!

2022 Community Service Award

FCC was honored to receive a 2022 Community Service Award from the Greater Dundalk Chamber of Commerce. Executive/Clinical Director, Amie Post, accepted the award on behalf of our dedicated and talented team last week at the Chamber’s 2022 Business Awards Gala.

Community Comes Together for Shelter Transformation

From July 2021 through October 2022, three volunteer groups gave the gift of time and service to help ensure that every family in FCC's emergency shelter can come home to a comfortable and peaceful space.

Thank you to the youth groups from Community Christian Church, St. Ursula Church and staff of Ciena Corporation who painted client rooms and community spaces, and a special shout out to Board Members Laura Weatherington (St. Ursula Church) and Cheryl Keeney (Ciena Corporation) for their leadership.

Leadership Making a Difference

FCC Board Member and Principal at Offit Kurman, Russell Berger, was highlighted this week in The Daily Record. Russell has served on FCC’s Board for the last five years, bringing invaluable experience and insight to the ongoing strategic planning for and forward momentum of our work.
Critical support for expanding services.
Thank you!

We are always humbled and grateful for the time, talent and donations from so many in our community. Your support has allowed for the ongoing expansion of FCC’s continuum of care as community need continues to grow and evolve. Thank you for joining us on this mission to foster safe homes and strong communities for families and individuals experiencing intimate partner violence.

A special thank you to the Marion I. & Henry J. Knott Foundation, The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Covenant Guild, Inc., and Venable Foundation for their support of our lifesaving work at FCC.
This year’s annual FCC fundraising event raised over $8,000 - every penny of which will go directly to support families moving from crisis to stability. This post-shelter support is essential to promoting long-term resilience and wellness after the hard work of leaving and recovering from intimate partner violence is accomplished.
'Tis the Season

For survivors of domestic violence and their children, safety and stability is the most beautiful and profound gift that anyone can offer them. As we approach the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holiday season, we hope you will consider adding families working to overcome the impacts of intimate partner violence to this year’s gift list with a contribution to FCC.
HOLIDAY FAMILY SPONSORSHIPS

Holiday sponsorships provide families in shelter with the gift of new clothing, winter coats and shoes - and children with toys and other “wish” items chosen by their parents. Last year, we were able to sponsor 95 individuals through generous gifts totaling more than $23,000. This year, we hope to increase the amount raised for family sponsorships to $30,000, to help meet increasing caseloads.
PROGRAM
WISH LISTS

Each year, FCC program leaders work with families to compile wish lists that reflect current and future needs in our emergency shelter and children’s programs. This holiday season, we hope to secure at least three months of supplies from each list. To provide inspiration and make your giving experience stress free, Amazon Wish Lists accompany each programmatic list in the link below.

Save the Date!
November 29, is #GivingTuesday. This year, we’re joining domestic violence programs across the country for #GiveforDV, a campaign designed to give people around the world an opportunity to stand united against intimate partner violence. Together, we can raise awareness, increase donations and volunteer efforts and deepen community engagement through collective action.
