From Mrs. Pudelko:

Dear St. Anthony families,

We are nearing the end of the first quarter. Now is the time to log into Infinite Campus if you have not already and check grades with your child. I encouraged students this morning to check their grades and check in with their teacher about making improvements if they are not happy with their current grades. If you have not logged into Infinite Campus yet this year and need help, please email the school office and directions can be sent to you. Mark your calendar for parent-teacher conferences which will be held on November 15 (sorry hunters!) and November 17. The sign-up for time slots will be sent next week.

This week, we invited a speaker to our staff meeting to talk about how to answer questions for students who may be asking about Abortion. This is certainly a tough topic and is more present than ever in our adult lives with the vote on Proposal 3 quickly approaching. Father Mark and I felt it was necessary for our teachers to have the tools they need in the event that questions are asked in the classroom. Teachers were given a brochure titled "How to Talk to your Child about Abortion." In my conversation with teachers during this meeting, most staff have not been asked any questions, but abortion is discussed as part of the middle school theology curriculum.  Staff are encouraged to focus on the miracle of a child's own life and promote the respect of life from the moment a child starts growing in his/her mom's womb (tummy). I've included a link to this brochure for parents to use as language in your own conversations at home.  Again, I recognize this is a sensitive topic, but I believe we can all agree that we want children to be learning from trusted adults.  If you have specific questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your child's teacher.

Specific information regarding Auction for All can be found later in the newsletter. Thank you to all who have already contributed - this event's success depends on the participation of all of you. I look forward to a fun night filled with support for our educational programming!

God bless,

Mrs. Pudelko

"Friendzy" News:

Our catchphrase for the month of October is “Listen Up!” We will learn different strategies to become better listeners. Whole Body Listening is a concept to help students focus and actively listen with more than just our ears. The students will listen to step-by-step directions to create a Halloween drawing, and we will play the game “Telephone!” This game was a big hit last year, and they’ve been excited to play it again! I’ll show the first student a code to get into class and then each student will have to repeat it to the next. Will the code stay the same?! We will end the unit with a partner game where students will build with legos and instruct their partner how to replicate their model.

Building Healthy Communities will focus on why it’s important to eat fruit!
