Hello to all of my happy readers!!!

I simply cannot believe it is March already. This year is the year of shows, music, and art. I went with the team to see Hamilton this past week, and it was absolutely amazing! I am so grateful that I got to see it. Today, as I write this, I am attempting to leave the shop on time so that I can get home and do some things before heading to our local theater company to see The Odd Couple. My bookclub cohost Brianna is the lead, and I am so proud of her. Monday I head to Third Place Books after work to listen to Grady Hendrix speak about his latest book, Witchcraft for Wayward Girls. He writes spooky books, mostly because they speak of some horrible period of time or one group abusing another group. I find his books very interesting.

I have been battling the blues a little bit lately. I have been using the time to read, hang with friends, and dabble in the arts. These are the things that are helping me.

Last month I listened to Witchcraft for Wayward Girls, by Grady Hendrix (the author I am going to see). This book ended up being such a bright light on the young women of the 60s and the 70s who fell into the condition. That is, they have found themselves with child. Their parents have sent them away so as to avoid embarrassment while they finish their pregnancies. This is an up close and personal look at a group of young women fourteen years and up—and what they are willing to do to see that the right things are done. There is a local group of witches, and while it initially seems harmless, we soon find out that it is anything but. I read The Return, by Rachel Harrison. This book is very very proper horror. Body horror warning. It was so good. This book follows four good girlfriends. One of the friends disappears for two years, and when she returns, everyone knows that something is very much changed about her. They plan a trip for the friends to catch up after her return, and that is where all the fun...I mean, the horror begins.

I plan on reading Bochica, by Carolina Florez-Cerchiaro—another scary one for me. I also want to read Victorian Psycho, by Virginia Feito. It was on the cover this month for Indie Next, and I have heard from several friends who have read it and they all said it is WILD and so good.

I hope you stay safe and healthy. Happy Reading!

Brandy~

Watermark Book Club

This month, Watermark Book Club is reading

Orbital, by Samantha Harvey.

This is a closed book club. If you'd like to join the waitlist,

please respond to this email and let us know!

In the meantime, feel free to follow along with what we're reading.

Here is what Brandy has to say about it:

Orbital is truly beautiful. It tells the story of four astronauts and two cosmonauts living at the International Space Station. The whole story takes place in twenty-four hours. It is very thoughtful, and you get a lot of the astronauts' inner thoughts. A really spectacular read and a Booker Prize winner.
