SAINT MARK'S MISSION, MINISTRY & OUTREACH

Annual Giving: Widening the Welcome: Open & Generous Hearts

"All things come of you, O God, and of your own have we given you.”

~ BCP Offertory response.

This fall we want to invite you into a time of reflection on the nature of Christian stewardship. In fact, we’ve created a whole series of “Vital Conversations” around Caring for our Gifts with titles like: The Gift of Time, The Gift of a Faith Community, The Gift of Relationships, The Gift of the Body and more. These conversations are intended to widen our understanding of the “churchy word,” stewardship. Certainly, budgets are important, but we encourage you to think not so much of what is needed by the Church but rather what each one is able and called to give. What if everyone at St. Mark’s committed to giving proportionally (a percentage of their income) and purposed to gradually increase the percentage over time? We can all grow in generosity. We can all become more grateful. We could find that the generosity of the St. Mark’s community might actually sustain greater dreams and service to God’s people in the coming year. Together we are Making Something Beautiful for God in this Neighborhood, and we want everyone to take part in that creative process.

On October 29th, we will have our Celebration Sunday – Pancake and Pledge. We know the generosity of our St. Mark’s community and the strong commitment to growing in faith that we share. On that Sunday, we will invite you to join the whole community of St. Mark’s in making a financial commitment as an act of Worship. St. Mark’s life and ministry thrives through the generosity of those who have found a place of spiritual nurture here. Your generosity matters not only to the community of St. Mark’s but to you as well.

Come celebrate with us on Friday the 13th at 6 p.m. at St Mark's Episcopal Church! It will be a night of frivolity for the young and young at heart! There will be a magician, raffle items, and a prize for the best costume (yes, costumes are encouraged!). They will be singing music from Charlie Brown and Linus’ Pumpkin Patch (set up on the steps of the church nave.) All-ages appropriate (not too spooky for little ones).  The event is free to all, but donations are encouraged and welcome (via @onqchorus in the Venmo app).
