ADI receives increased state funding

All of us at ANCA and ADI extend our gratitude to the elected and state officials who worked to secure increased funding for the Adirondack Diversity Initiative in the New York State Budget.

Special thanks to Senator Jose M. Serrano; the Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus; Assemblyman Billy Jones; DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos; Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins; and Governor Kathy Hochul.

This support demonstrates your commitment to building diversity, equity and inclusion in the Adirondack region and is testament to the important work ADI is already accomplishing in our communities. Thank you.

The Community Policing Initiative also received coverage in the Spring issue of the Adirondack Explorer.

Said one DEC agency representative of the training:

“This training is one example of our ongoing collaboration and will build upon existing training to reduce racial inequities in policing, prevent implicit bias, increase positive engagement and foster trust between law enforcement and all residents and visitors to the Adirondacks.”

Electric school buses across New York

On Earth Day, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that school districts across the state will have five years to begin purchasing electric-powered school buses. Momentum to get more EVs on the road is driven by New York's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), which set goals to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the state.

ANCA Energy Circuit Riders can help connect your community with information about electric school bus options and opportunties. Contact us at energy@adirondack.org.
