It is the first day of a new wage structure for workers in the horticulture industry, marking one of the most significant changes ever for Australian agriculture.
This may affect you if you employ harvest workers under the Hort Award. And while we’re on harvest workers …

Applications open for Regenerative Agriculture Mentorship Program (RAMP)
|
|
Delivered by Southern Cross University in partnership with the Regenerative Agriculture Alliance and Farming Together, and funded through the NSW Environmental Trust Environmental Education initiative, the RAMP is designed to facilitate transformative change in agriculture.
Over 12 months applicants will work with mentor experts to develop their knowledge, capacity and application of the principles and practices of regenerative agriculture. The goal is to reduce the human-induced impacts of climate change using environmental education projects that drive agricultural practice change for improved soil carbon, hydration and biodiversity.
The RAMP is unique as it has an added feature of an embedded education component, delivered in each of the twelve monthly 1.5-hour online mentoring sessions. There will also be several two-hour discussions hosted by guest speakers throughout the year, and organisers hope to facilitate optional farm field days.
The 12-month course costs only $330 for participants and the closing date for applications is Friday, 13 May. Apply here.
