Local Minimum Wage Increases to $15.75 for 2022
On January 1, 2022, the local minimum wage in Menlo Park will increase by $0.50 to $15.75 per hour. The $0.50 per hour increase reflects the maximum allowed inflation adjustment of 3 percent or $0.46 per hour, rounded up to $0.50 as the next increment of $0.05. Absent the inflation cap of 3% set by the municipal code, the actual inflation adjustment would have been 4.9% for the San Francisco area as measured from August 2020 to August 2021 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. City staff summarized changes to the local minimum wage in Staff Report No. 21-199-CC presented October 12, 2021, to the City Council. The official notice to employees is available for download by December 1 each year.

COVID-19 Testing
Amid sharp increases in new COVID-19 cases during this holiday season, County Health is urging residents to seek out testing and get vaccinated, especially those traveling or anticipating a return to in-person schooling.

Safe, easy, and no-cost testing is widely available at County-sponsored locations for everyone who works or lives in San Mateo County regardless of symptoms.

Here's how to get a COVID-19 test:

  1. San Mateo County residents should first contact their health care provider for a COVID-19 test.
  2. If you cannot get a timely test through your health care provider, please select from the Testing Options listed here for a no-cost test at a County-sponsored location. Insurance will be billed if available.
  3. Once you select the best option for you, make an appointment. Appointments at ALL TEST SITES are STRONGLY encouraged as there is no guarantee you will be seen without one.
  4. Remember to bring your photo ID and the reference ID from the confirmation email to your appointment. Please have your insurance information ready if available.

Donate to Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. for an Immediate Impact on Seniors in Our Community
Peninsula Volunteers, Inc.’s vital services for seniors are more critical now than ever. The pandemic’s disproportionate impact on older adults has led to more widespread loneliness, isolation and health vulnerabilities. Hunger has more than tripled in Bay Area counties, jeopardizing the health and well-being of older adults. Now nearly 1 in six seniors is facing hunger risk and cannot cover the cost of basic needs.

You may ask “how can I help local seniors like Raymond right now”?
Join PVI as they continue strengthening the senior community by helping them provide high-quality programs that keep your loved ones and neighbors fed, engaged, and living independently. Your gift of any size* made securely online at penvol.org/donate will change the lives of seniors now.
