As I look back over 2022, I am grateful that so many of our lives have returned to “normal”. This year, you came to our special events in numbers equal to or greater than in our pre-COVID years. Children and adults were back on the fields and courts, and in the gyms, in record numbers, both for us and our program partners. This past summer, we had almost 3,000 kids attend our summer camps.
Also in 2022, we opened a major Emerald Necklace segment, McDowell Creek Greenway Phase II, with others under construction and planning to open in 2023, including Plum Creek Beverly and Caldwell Station Tributary. Even more are in planning phases.
We continued to make park improvements, such as upgraded drainage at Wilhelm Park, LED lighting at Bailey Road Park, invasive species removal at Robbins Park and Jetton Neighborhood Park, and athletic field turf renovations throughout our system.
As the demand for our programs and facilities continues, we have added a few new faces to our team. Please join us in welcoming new Park Maintenance Technicians, Hendri Cajamarca, Anthony Battisti, and Scott Markovich, and new Recreation Program Assistants, Rashad Hart and Emily Halden.
Thank you for attending our events, participating in our programs, and enjoying our facilities this year. We are busy planning for an even bigger and better 2023. On behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season and look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Be fun and creative this year with the gift of recreation! Purchase a gift certificate in the amount of your choosing - each can be used for fitness classes, sports leagues, or even for our popular summer camps. There's something for everyone!
