April greetings from the Center for Irish Music!
I hope you had a chance to enjoy some tunes during the St. Patrick's Day season. For the first time in two years, touring artists were traveling again and we were fortunate to have Lunasa, Cherish the Ladies, Danú and We Banjo 3 all here in one month.
Instructors and students alike are full of energy after their own live performances at the Landmark Center and venues across town. So, with a skip in our step, we are transitioning into "Fleadh mode" as we look prepare for the Midwest Fleadh in St. Louis, May 13-15.
Congratulations to Dáithí Sproule for winning a Gradam Ceoil award from TG4 with Skara Brae. CIM is extremely fortunate to have had Dáithí on our teaching staff for over a decade. His steadfast support of our mission and his generosity of knowledge and spirit have contributed greatly to our local community. It is very exciting to see Dáithí recognized back home in Ireland with this prestigious award. Read more below.
The artist line-up for the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend (June 9-12) is coming together. A list of programs is available here. This year, the MIM events and workshops will be happening in-person at the Celtic Junction, with a smaller program of virtual offerings, including a live broadcast of the Saturday night concert.
Summer camps are filling up quickly, so be sure to register for those asap. A full roster of summer classes and ensembles will be announced soon.
I look forward to seeing you at one of the Irish Arts Week events this month.
