Give a Gift from FONA

Give a gift from FONA this holiday by purchasing a 2022 Arboretum holiday ornament. This year's ornament features the Capitol Columns and Berry Bird, our beloved sculpture in Washington Youth Garden.

You can also purchase Washington Youth Garden jars of honey, tote bags, baby bibs, and t-shirts.

Ornaments will be available for purchase at both events on December 3rd and 10th. Honey will only be available for purchase at the December 10th Winter Festival. FONA members will receive a discount.

Arboretum Updates

The U.S. National Arboretum is now accepting applications for 2023 internship positions. These internships range from three to six months long and offer hands-on work experience and training in horticulture, botany, and plant research.

Interns work throughout the Arboretum's plant collections, greenhouses, and research laboratories. They also complete a project and participate in educational field trips.

Discover Something New

After visiting our holiday events this December, explore the rest of the Arboretum and discover something new!

Take a stroll through the Gotelli Conifer Collection and learn about dwarf and slow-growing conifers. Or learn about the Arboretum's camellia breeding program as you smell the fall and winter-blooming flowers in the Camellia Collection. Visit the Chinese Pavilion in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum to see where many plants in the collection were moved for the winter.

Viewing Stone Exhibit

Visit a special exhibit of Chinese scholars' rocks from the Kemin Hu Collection. This exhibit is available from now until December 31st in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum's Exhibits Gallery. See traditional landscape stones, modern stones, and animal-shaped stones. The Museum is open daily from 10 AM to 4 PM.
