May 1, 2021 | The Third Sunday of Easter
Join us this Sunday!
Sunday Morning Worship
Join us for worship this Sunday at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m.* in our historic sanctuary, where we will mark the third Sunday of Easter. We hope to see you at whatever service fits your schedule this weekend.

*11 a.m. service also live-streamed. By entering the church at 11 a.m., you consent to being filmed, as well as its release as desired by CC+WP. More information linked below.

Children's Ministries
Kids of all ages are joyfully welcomed at CC+WP during both services. We also offer Children's Chapel at 9 a.m., and nursery care for our younger children during both Sunday services.

Sunday School and Youth Group are off this week so that our young people can participate in our lunch-making ministry - see below!

Lunch-making Ministry this week!
Join us between services this Sunday for our monthly lunch-making ministry in the Parish Hall. All ages welcome! Many thanks go to the Howard family for the supplies, and to Anne Fletcher & John Jameson for their organization and delivery.
Adult Forums in May!
We are excited to offer an array of Adult Forums in May. After our homeless lunch-making ministry on May 1, we will hear from some of our Tending Our Soil team on what they've uncovered thus far. Then on May 15, an Outreach Forum on Afghan Refugees, followed by a program tied to special gravestone dedication for Theophilus Howard on May 22 before taking a break for summer. In-person & virtual.
Vestry Retreat this Sunday
We offer our thanks to the CC+WP vestry members for their commitment to guiding our community to the best of their ability. They will spend much of Sunday afternoon doing just that, beginning at 1 p.m.
General Announcements
Capitol Hill Restoration Society Tour
Want a quick course in Christ Church architectural history? Christ Church will be a stop along the Capitol Hill Restoration Society House and Garden Tour May 7 & 8. We are in need of door keepers and docents to guide tour groups through the sanctuary from 4-7 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, divided into two shifts per day. A guide to our artifacts and architecture will be provided in advance of the event. This is a fun way to meet the Capitol Hill community, and provide a little PR for our wonderful parish. Please contact Nancy Metzger if interested.
The Easter Bunny loves to RECYCLE!
Bring any plastic Easter eggs and unwanted Easter baskets to Christ Church as we help the Easter Bunny in his recycling efforts ahead of next year. Please put your eggs and baskets in the plastic bin in the Parish Hall this Sunday.
Save the Date: May 15
So much Outreach goodness happening on May 15: First, there will be a special forum at 10 a.m. highlighting our assistance to Afghan refugees, including additional information on the family we are assisting in partnership with St Mark's. Next, at 12:45 p.m., there will be an Outreach meeting to discuss our spring and summer activities. All are invited to attend, and to bring ideas to strengthen our program.
Afghan Family Support Update
This has been a big week for Bilal, Benafsha and their two boys, as well as the St Mark’s/Christ Church partnership group. All have been consumed with readying the family’s new apartment for move-in this week! Furniture has been collected and delivered, and set-up in good order. Volunteers have obtained kitchen and cleaning supplies, linens and towels, and two weeks-worth of food. With the family finally in their own place, there will be more time and space to help Benafsha and the boys with English acquisition, and to help the family get to know and enjoy the Washington region. If you are interested in spending time with our Afghan family, contact Sherry Saunders for more information.
Prepare a Sunday dinner for Calvary Women!
One slot left for May 8th but many more available for the rest of the year. Calvary's Hope Awards Dinner will be at the Capitol Hill Hilton on May 18 in case you'd like to help them celebrate.

Join Connie Citro, family, and dear friends to honor the life of longtime Christ Church member, Joe Citro, on Saturday, April 30. Services begin at 1 p.m. in person and online, with an opportunity to gather in the Parish Hall to follow.
