Worship with Us this Sunday

March 5, 2023

10:00am In-person and Facebook Live or replay on Facebook later

Please join us for 10am worship in-person or Facebook Live or play it later on Facebook. We will light our Lenten candles as it is the Second Sunday of Lent. Our theme is Jesus Met and Known. We will meet a couple of ancient ancestors of the faith (Genesis 12:1-4a) and will meet Nicodemus in the Gospels as he interacts with Jesus (John 3:1-9).

Communion: We will celebrate the sacrament of communion at our open table this Sunday. It is a simple sacred meal. All are invited. We have bread and gluten-free wafers; grape juice and wine.

Give-A-Meal: We ask you to bring gifts of non-perishable food items on the first Sunday of each month for our neighbors in St Louis County and St Louis City.

First Sunday Choir: No tryouts! No experience necessary! Meet in the Sanctuary at 9am to learn the piece that will be shared in worship at 10am service.

Chili Cook-off & Brownie Bake-off - a fundraiser for our Youth Summer Mission Trip – Sunday, March 5 after worship. See Amy Yakel: [email protected]

Sunday School

This winter our children are learning about some of the people who met Jesus. Most of these stories are found in the Gospel of John: Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, the first disciples, a blind man, the little boy with fish and bread, and many more.

Youth are using a new curriculum called Feasting on the Word. This curriculum is lectionary based with activities and discussions around topics of interest to youth as they relate to scripture.

We celebrated Book Sunday for kids birth through 8th grade last week. If you haven’t placed your order for your complimentary book, please do so soon to Carmen at [email protected] Thanks to Liz Lyons and Carmen Bumgarner for coordinating Book Sunday 23!

Inspiration

The surest way to determine whether one possesses the love of God is to see whether he or she loves his or her neighbor. These two loves are never separated. Rest assured, the more you progress in love of neighbor the more your love of God will increase.

~St. Teresa of Avila

Humor:

Did you hear about the snowman who fell in love with a mitten?

It was glove at first sight.

What advice should you give to snow moving to the big city?

Flake it till you make it.

What do you call a snowman’s dog?

A slushpuppy.
