Meet FEA's New President - Jeff Peterson, CPEC1031, LLC, Minneapolis, MN
You're welcome. We saved 1031 Exchange. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the FEA and its industry partners, §1031 has escaped the ax once again.

In the other sense of the phrase, I want to emphasize that you are welcome! The FEA is an inclusive organization that empowers all members to advance and enrich their careers through participation in events and learning opportunities, including the CES certification.
Comments Shared by Outgoing President Julie Baird
Highlights of past year
What a year! These last 12 – 16 months have given us all an extreme volume of exchange transactions coupled with historic low interest rates. This creates a very challenging environment – people are working a lot more, for less money and often it’s hard to have sufficient staffing. We’ve been battling legislative uncertainty this past year and all of this during a pandemic that does not show signs of waning.

Starting their second three-year term are James Miller, IPX 1031®, Chandler, AZ and Jeffrey Peterson, CPEC1031, Minneapolis, MN

The membership voted and all of the candidates were elected. Members may read full bios and photos of all new board members here.

GAC Update - November 2021
As Congress moves forward with negotiations over the budget reconciliation bill, FEA GAC remains committed to ensuring that Section 1031 is not included in the final version of the legislation. On Nov. 6, the House voted along party lines for the rule allowing the budget reconciliation bill, also known as the Build Back Better Act, to come to the floor for consideration.  While the House did not debate or vote on the legislation itself, the move gives Democratic leaders time to resolve lingering disputes on specific provisions in the social spending package and wait for a formal revenue score from the Congressional Budget Office.
Updated EY Macroeconomic Impact Study
FEA GAC leaders are working to update the 2021 EY study on the economic contributions of like-kind exchanges. The 2021 macroeconomic impact study originally used 2019 numbers as a proxy for 2021 numbers. However, as all QIs are aware, the volume of exchange activity has significantly increased from 2019.
FEA 2021 Fall Webinar Series
The FEA is commencing its 2021 Fall webinar series featuring one-hour webinars approved for CES® credit hours.

The Fall 2021 series will cover in-demand as well as brand-new topics. All participants will receive a copy of the PowerPoint presentation and any prepared handouts. There will also be a Question & Answer session at the end of each webinar.
