Newman Forum: How to Run Away from Home; Preparing for College As A Catholic
On Saturday, November 13, from 9 AM – 2:30 PM. at the University of Chicago, the Lumen Christi Institute’s Newman Forum will host “How to Run Away from Home,” a conference for high school seniors and juniors about leaving home well. A brief description for attendees: You’ve been told since you started school that you need to go away to college. Leave home, get an education, and begin “adulting.” The Bible can be considered one big story of leaving home in order to find it (along with the hazards and holy moments along the way.) It’s inspired countless Christians to journey, to search, to become pilgrims. Don’t make a decision about where you’ll go or who you’ll be in college without considering this conference. Join us as we explore the Bible as a playbook for leaving home. We will walk through Genesis to Revelation and explore this theme throughout the Scriptures. Then, we will look at the life of St. Anthony the Great, who decided to leave home and go to the desert simply by hearing the Gospel. See the flyer here and all interested high school seniors and juniors can register online.

Mid-life Singles (mid 30s to 50s): Are you looking for a renewed sense of purpose and belonging? Register today for a life-changing REFLECT weekend retreat at the Joseph & Mary Retreat House (formerly Cardinal Stritch Retreat House) in Mundelein, IL (northern suburbs), on Nov 12-14. Take a chance and get involved... you won't regret it! Cost is $215 for meals and a single room. Learn more and register online, or e-mail for questions.

Your financial gifts help us to continue our ministries as a faith community. We are deeply grateful for every gift that is shared.
When we plan our weekly giving, and set this money aside first, we demonstrate the great importance that God and the support of the Gospel have in our lives.

Our weekly bulletin features many of the ways you can contribute to the vibrancy of St. Alphonsus parish.
