SEARCH TEAM FOCUS TRANSITION
The Settled Minister Search Team is now hard at work on our Congregational Record, the “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About UUCUC But Were Afraid to Ask” document (series of documents, actually) that prospective ministers will use to learn about us and what we’re looking for in our next settled minister. We will be turning that in to the UUA this week and awaiting their feedback before it is finalized and released to the candidate pool. A part of the Record will be the results of our Congregational Survey, and once we have completed the submission process we will make those survey results available to everybody.

This is a time of transition for the Search Team: we are moving away from our information gathering phase and moving towards the candidate evaluation phase, with a few weeks in between to recharge our batteries. This next phase is by its very nature quieter, more insular and introspective, so you will be hearing far less from us than you have been so far. Know, though, that we will be working hard on your behalf to find the best candidate for our congregation.

FELLOWSHIP HOUR
Join us at 11:30 (or immediately following the service) for an in-person fellowship with coffee, beverages, treats, and good conversation in UUCUC's Fellowship Hall.
As of December 1, 2022, the COVID-19 transmission level in Champaign County is MEDIUM. That means masks continue to be required during services (both in the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall) as well as in all RE&E program activities. Please do your best to bring a mask from home or save your mask from service for use at a future service. Masks are welcomed (but not required) in UUCUC’s building for non-RE&E activities before and after the service. Food and beverages are also permitted in the building when transmission levels are medium or low. Please visit this link for UUCUC’s current COVID Safety Guidelines.

JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, November 27, 2022.

From Julie Laut: Over the last two weeks I was able to celebrate my dad's 79th birthday in Colorado with my parents and my brother and sister in law, then came home to spend Thanksgiving with Marc, Julian, Celia, and friends. There is nothing better than being surrounded by those I love the most!

From Margaret Lovell: Sorrow: l broke my ankle on Thanksgiving morning. Joy: I can be with you from home this morning.

From Charles Lutz: Very happy to share Thanksgiving with my daughter and her lovely family, visiting from the UUCL in Lexington, Kentucky

From Karla Peterson: In gratitude for spending Thanksgiving with family and friends in Northfield, Minnesota and especially for hosts - my niece and her family - who began the celebration by recognizing the indigenous people of Northfield.

From Scott Rohde: Saddened by the loss of two musical lights whose deaths I learned of earlier this month, one famous and one less so: Ned Rorem, who Time magazine once called "the world's best composer of art songs" died nine days ago at age 99. And Janice Impey, a secondary school music teacher, and later choir director at Clark-Lindsey and frequent usher at the Krannert Center, and who was always so spirited I thought she'd live forever. She was a pleasure to know, and when she wasn't off traveling, we played music together nearly every week until COVID put an end to all that.
Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
