Generosity - A Joyful Privilege

In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus has a lot to say about money. On Sunday September 25th, those present in worship received a $2 bill with the encouragement to notice a need and use the $2 to respond with compassion.  And many of you responded! We’ve heard about folks multiplying that $2 more than 100 times to support relief efforts in Ukraine; $2 bills going with homemade cookies and a 20 to a distressed family fleeing the path of the hurricane in Florida; LWR baby kit supplies purchased; knitting supplies for Afghan women, adding funds to the $2 to support flood relief and the Crop Walk; extra sandwiches made to be distributed by ABCCM; support of meals on wheels; and gifts to people on the side of the road in need. Thanks be to God for the generosity that abounds in this place!

As St. Mark’s makes plans for what our ministry will look like in 2023, thank you for your generous support of this ministry!  Please prayerfully consider what your financial support St. Mark’s ministry will look like in 2023 and let us know by October 31 by returning a paper pledge card or accessing the online form by clicking on the button below. Remember, any pledge increases in households giving less than $39 a week last year will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000 total, by some generous members!

Faith Formation

Small Group SIGNUP

6 Weeks Beginning on Nov. 6th

Last Lent Deacon Katie asked you all to try something new as a congregation. "What would it look like if we all participated in Small Groups together? What if we tried this for a season?" Well, 80 people said yes to being part of a small group during those 40 days of Lent. It truly was a season of learning, growing in faith, and forming stronger relationships with our church family.

We received so much positive feedback from our Lenten Small Groups, that we have decided to do them AGAIN beginning on November 6th! Read more information about our small groups here

Ministry Team Announcements

Evangelism & Hospitality - NEW Pew Buddy Program

As a family of faith, we seek to support and love children at St. Mark’s as they grow in faith. We believe that that support goes deeper than just welcome in worship and programs to help them learn, but also inclusion into the body of Christ here in our church. St. Mark’s new Pew Buddy program is being designed to help form meaningful relationships between children and adult members.

What's a Pew Buddy?

As a Pew Buddy, you would sit with a child and their family during worship, and get to know them before and after the service. Depending on the child, you may help them find their place in the bulletin or hymnal as they learn about worship, or help them with the activities in the Children’s Bulletins. More than anything else, a Pew Buddy is a friend and support, mentor and example of God’s love.

Interested? Complete the linked form and Deacon Katie or a member of the Evangelism and Hospitality team will be in contact with you to share more about the program and process.

CAT - Noisy Buckets

Sunday, October 30th

Bring in your noisy bucket contribution on October 30th for our 5th Sunday additional offering. This month the noisy bucket funds will go to support the ELCA Disaster Relief as a whole. Here are just a few of the disasters that they are currently supporting as well as Ian relief.

CAT - ABCCM Pantry Cupboard

Our volunteers at the ABCCM Crisis Ministry report that certain food items are desperately needed for the pantry. Between now and Thanksgiving, add a few items to your grocery bags when you go shopping for yourself!

  • Pasta and sauce
  • Peanut Butter (small size jars)
  • cans of tuna and chicken
  • boxes of mac and cheese
  • boxes of cereal (family size)
  • bags of rice (small size)
  • oatmeal
  • canned fruits and veggies
  • flour, sugar, and oil

Please buy smaller sized items. ABCCM is no longer able to split items into smaller containers due to new sanitation codes. Canned items with pop-tops are especially appreciated.

Place your contribution in the bins by the children's courtyard.

NOTE: ABCCM is needing volunteers too! Please pray about spending some of your time there serving those who need you. There are many folks at St. Mark's who can explain what a day as a volunteer entails.
