This Weekend in Worship

During Lent we journey with all those around the world who will be baptized at the Easter Vigil. In today's gospel Jesus tells Nicodemus that he must be born of water and Spirit. At the font we are given a new birth as children of God. As God made a covenant with Abraham, in baptism God promises to raise us up with Christ to new life. From worship we are sent forth to proclaim God's love for all the world.

ELCA World Hunger: 40 Days of Giving

As members of the ELCA, we are called to eradicate poverty and hunger. During the season of Lent, ELCA World Hunger's 40 Days of Giving invites us to be part of that work and to bear witness to it with partners, companions, friends, and neighbors. You may click here to give directly to ELCA World Hunger or give as a special offering during worship at Faith Lutheran.

Project Gathering House

The Faith Lutheran Gathering House could use some love! We use this space for church events and to host families experiencing homelessness through our partnership with Family Promise of Greater Des Moines. We would love to make the Gathering House more home-like for our guests, which means some of the household goods need to be replaced. Please consider purchasing items through our Amazon Wish List or our Target registry. Contact Seana Jefferson (sh7jefferson@outlook.com) if you'd like to donate something that is not on the list.

Lectionary Commentaries & Men's Breakfast Bible Study

Each Tuesday at 7:00 am the Men's Breakfast Bible Study Group meets in person and online to discuss the scripture texts for the upcoming weekend. Commentaries on these texts are used by this group and are posted on the Men's Breakfast website and in the "This Weekend in Worship" portion of the eNews (see above). The commentaries come from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN at www.workingpreacher.org. Church members may consider looking to this resource for inspiration and reflection, especially during the season of Lent.

Worship Tech Help Needed

Screens, sound, and livestreaming are all integral parts of worship. It takes a team of trained people to ensure everything runs smoothly. Please consider serving in one of these ways:

Sound: serve on a rotating schedule for one of the three weekend worship services. The primary job is to adjust the sound for worship leaders as needed.

Worship Slides: use a remote to advance the worship slides on the sanctuary screens. This can be done sitting in a pew or from the tech booth.

Livestreaming: The Sunday 10:30 am service is live streamed online. You'll use state of the art (but easy to operate) equipment to adjust the cameras throughout the service.

Contact the church office (office@faithlc.org) for more information or to express interest.

Pastoral Visit and At-Home Communion

If you or someone you know wishes to have a visit by one of the pastors and/or receive Holy Communion, call the church office at 515-225-8334 or email Pastor Eric Carlson at eric@faithlc.org.

Ways to Give
You can make financial contributions to the church in the following ways:
  • Place a check or cash in the offering container in worship
  • Mail a personal check to Faith at 10395 University Ave., Clive, IA 50325
  • Visit the Online Giving page to make a gift online

Thanks for your ongoing support of Faith Lutheran Church's ministries.
