Celebrating 64 Years

of Peachtree City!

This Thursday, March 9th, Peachtree City will celebrate its 64th birthday! If you have a Happy Birthday message for PTC, tag us on social media and we may share your message with our followers!

Thank You for 64 Years Strong!

This Wednesday marks 64 years since Peachtree City was chartered on March 9th of 1959. As a community, we have made our mark since our origin six decades ago. To quote an Atlanta Journal-Constitution article dated 1974,

"In some ways Peachtree City is just like any other town: it has a mayor and city council, police and fire protection, churches, homes, civic clubs, recreation, shopping and industry."

"But unlike any other Georgia city, the community is totally planned by a single developer, Garden Cities Corp., a subsidiary of Phipps Land Co. The overall planning puts residential areas on choice land, office and industry areas away from the homes, shopping at central locations and recreational facilities scattered throughout the community."

Today, 64 years later, we still consider ourselves unlike any other Georgia city. Thank you for being a part of our community and making Peachtree City the place where people plan to stay. Happy Birthday to us!

Mondays with the Mayor: Cars (54/74) & Cops

This week, Peachtree City Mayor Kim Learnard talks about a meeting with the Georgia Department of Transportation concerning congestion at the intersection of Hwy. 54 and Hwy.74 in the heart of the city. She also expressed her gratitude to the police department after they quickly apprehended suspects in the murder of a teen last week.

Have a question, ask the city manager: https://peachtree-city.org/forms.aspx?fid=73

Peachtree City Students Take the

SeaPerch Underwater Challenge

On Tuesday, students at JC Booth Middle School were busy practicing for the SeaPerch Program at Kedron's big pool.

SeaPerch challenges students to construct underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) using marine and ocean engineering principles learned in class.

Booth Middle School frequently finishes first in SeaPerch competitions, taking home top honors in 2015, 2018, and 2019. SeaPerch regional winners advance to the international competition at the University of Maryland in May.

The pool at Kedron will be closed again on Wednesday, March 8th, between 9 AM and 11:30 AM, so the Booth kids can get in that last round of practice before game time. We're cheering for you, JC Booth Middle School!
