For the past fifteen years, we have been able to call the Consumers Energy Foundation our partner. We are so thankful for their continued support over the years when it comes to providing environmental and water-related education to students across the state.
Since 2007, the Institute’s Water on the Go! programs have been delivered to more than 110,000 students throughout Michigan via outreach programs. The key to this success has been partners like the Consumers Energy Foundation and our extensive network of educators.
Water on the Go! programs give students an engaging, hands-on learning experience that will enhance their knowledge about water science as well as an understanding of their impact on water in their local communities and the Great Lakes.
We are excited to share that the Consumers Energy Foundation has recently approved a $450,000 grant to support this important program for the next three years. At no cost to the school districts of Bay, Saginaw, and Midland Counties, Water on the Go! programming will be delivered in up to 320 classrooms per year, resulting in thousands of students experiencing immersive and engaging outreach curriculums.
Students will walk away with an enhanced appreciation for water resources in their community, an understanding of how their actions can help protect and restore water quality, and increased awareness for ecological issues and how they can be a part of the solution.
